I have been watching those videos a lot recently and I believe the bunching method they use is the book bunching if I am not mistaken. Well, I guess that explains why Montecristo #4 has a tight draw :-)
@BlissCigarCo
@BlissCigarCo 4 жыл бұрын
Those guys do book it pretty often. I've also seen where they just sort of grab the leaf up into their hand. Yeah, pretty sure none of these guys has ever set foot inside a cigar factory. But I have had some of their sticks and they are pleasant to smoke with a nice cup of coffee. Hard to go wrong with Cuban tobacco.

@@BlissCigarCo Talking about Cuban farmers, there is a Cuban brand named after the farmers and field workers, Vegueros. Their Entretiempos are one of my favorites. They are very affordable compared to other Cuban brands and have that unaltered tobacco taste.

The bunching looks more like a modified accordion; this would have more draw than a standard book laying leaves flat on top another. These have a bit of a tubular/roll to them.

OK so i notice with the Camposino cigars that you are using a double binder which i have seen done very cool, why? ( it looks incredible fyi) On the cap work you cut out a eye drop shape for the cap , then put another cap afterwards was that the triple cap method? because it looked like 3 caps not sure. I've had some Cohiba Esplendidos, and Partagas D4 with similar cap work.
@BlissCigarCo
@BlissCigarCo 4 жыл бұрын
I do double binder when the binder is not thick enough, or because I want more structure, or because I want more of the binder leaf in the blend. Also because it is the Cuban method. Yes, the eyedrop (called the flag) is the second cap, and the circular disk at the end is the third cap. The first cap was the twist at the top of the wrap. This is the triple cap method. I learned this method from studying Cuban rolling videos and from studying Cuban cigars.

Are all the binder wrappers doubled up? And how much pressure are you applying when you roll it with your palm?
@BlissCigarCo
@BlissCigarCo 10 ай бұрын
I haven't watched this video since I uploaded it, so I don't know if you mean here or in general. But binder leaves can either be single or double, depends on various things. Handrolls (no mold) are almost always double-bound. Hard to answer the pressure question: having rolled tens of thousands of cigars, I apply the right amount of pressure.
@BlissCigarCo
@BlissCigarCo 10 ай бұрын
To further answer that, cigars that will go into a mold don't require tons of hand pressure, because the mold does the final squeezing. Rolling without a mold, the hand does the final squeezing, so more pressure.

Normally somewhere between 1/2 hour per side and days, depending on when I have time to wrap them. But if I recall, I only leave them in the mold for a few minutes in this video, since I bunch and wrap them straight through.

I am ready to be wrong but in my humble opinion, all things being equal, bookbinding or entubado makes no difference to the draw as they both get pressed in the mould and the tubes are flat like the bookbind. you can see this from looking at either end of a cut cigar. I think entubado makes it easier to get an even piece of filler from a leaf without cutting the leaf and tradition and marketing has a lot to do with it too. Its hard to test the theory as a hand rolled cigar its hard to make 2 identical cigars with 2 methods for me that would give a meaningful test. Love the vids btw

@BlissCigarCo
@BlissCigarCo 4 жыл бұрын
None of the tobacco is wasted. I use the cuttings as short filler. I cut cigars to specific vitolas and batches which fit together perfectly in specific cigar boxes for storage and also allow me to more easily identify which cigars are which. I use different vitolas for different blends.
