"false step" allows players to accelerate quicker. Especially if they're starting with even feet. Am I wrong?

Not sure if it allows backers to accelerate quicker, but it is wasted movement. The time spent stepping backwards is more time the oline has to recognize/adjust to a blitz. Even if backsteps did help players accelerate quicker it still creates a slower blitz
