Drive backwards the whole time to keep going, and collect boost. DON'T stop driving backwards. It helps a lot.

Also stop not using your speed boost often you have to do it whenever you get enough and if you're doing really really REALLY well then save your boost to go In The Zone that's how I'd do it

The problem is you don't exploit the game's mechanics. Driving backwards and on 2 wheels is just as fast as regular driving, but it gives turbo. Instead of just regular driving you can do a jump and a stunt. As soon as a boost completely goes out of effect, then you use another boost. If you do that, you'll be perfectly fine.
