I love Nick Cave's comments on Blixa. He said he couldn't imagine what sort of coupling of man and woman(I'm paraphrasing) produced someone like Blixa, so unique. He said after meeting Blixa's parents he felt it kind of made sense, but laughing couldn't really articulate why. One of a kind artist and human being! Lovely and melancholy version of this song.

When he was younger as in this still, he reminded me of one of those Germanic expressionist film actors, the type that walk around the dark lane ways and poorly lit streets, mumbling to himself morosely, disengaged and disaffected from people.

People always sing this song like it's so happy, but it's a song of longing to be somewhere else: "birds fly over the rainbow, why then oh why can't I". Blixa really captured the song in a way that hasn't been done in a long long time. Well done.

Is it just me thinking Blixa and Neubauten are the creme de la creme in the music scene? I mean their gems are just waay more interesting than any other music in the world...

I feel that way about them. When I listen to their bootleg concerts from 1980-1987, it just sounds like the end of the world to me. It sounds like the very edge of a real hard and steep cliff. Like, they made it to one of the very fringes of music itself and found that there is nowhere beyond in that same direction. You could of course meet them at that cliff, and continue along the edge, discovering more new musical things in a similar vein, and perhaps to the same degree of extremity - but it'd have to be a different extremity, a different edge of the cliff, next to the edge that Einstuerzende Neubauten sits on.

I fuckin love this version. I really really appreciate people whom are able to do ominous-ness extremely well. I'm as jealous of that as I am music understood as beautiful..or this or that. I dig ominous. It sounds like he's been up..2-3+nights doing terrifyingly strong blow or speed, and now it's almost gone, and he has court in a couple (or less)hours, and his lawyer already assured him it's definitely, definitely, not gonna go well.
