Blizzaks WS90 noise inside at 70mph vs OEM

comparison of road noise inside the 2023 Bolt EUV at 70mph on the same stretch of road as was previously tested with the OEM tires.
interior sound is very similar as measured on the dB meter at 62-63dB

I just got the same winter tires 235/45/17 size on my Acura TL. Unfortunately, there is much more road noise compared to Michelin pilot sport a/s tires. Noticed it right away after leaving garage shop…

I just put Blizzaks on on my Model Y and the tire noise is MUCH louder than the stock Continental AS tires. Especially at lower speeds.

I like the blizzaks as they work well but they wear faster than others, I plan to go back to the general altimax artic when these wear out

@@practicallyfrugal The Blizzaks came on the wheels I bought from another local Tesla owner. He traded his Model Y LR in on a Model Y Performance so his LR snow wheels no longer fit. Couldn't pass up 18" Vision wheels with tires sized for the Model Y LR and Tesla TPMS valves for $750. Next winter tires will probably be Nokian or Michelin.

@@StormyDog that's a good price, tires on the model Y are not cheap, considering moving down to 18"'s year round as the tires are cheaper

@@practicallyfrugal The 18" are less expensive and many are still load rated 104 xl. The main reason I wanted 18" was for more sidewall. Also a narrower profile is better in the winter. I did the same thing with my Subaru Forester. Downsized the rims an inch and used higher profile tires (Michelin X-ice 2). In mid Minnesota winter tires are a big plus.

I live upstate new york as well. I commute to new york city which is about 64-74 miles per way. Both ways will be 128-148 miles. I am still trying figure out if I would have enough battery to commute to new york city during winter.

If your speed is under 72mph, heat is at 72 or lower and temp above 0 I think you should see about 170-175 out of it fully charged. Go 80, set the heat to 80 and be below 0. It will be very close to 150. One consideration, given you will be using most of the charge daily you will want to ensure you have the time to recoup those miles.

That's a crazy amount of driving your car will have over 100k miles in 3 years
