Zuluhed's VA is so good, underdog chief I never thought much about when I was a kid playing WC2. This is really my first time paying attention to him, just goes to show what some passion can do. Gl finding the pieces for the optional mission (which is super worth, you'll love it).

Well I can't say much on facts I only say as a personal preferance I did not want them to go Heroes of the Storm style hd models (those are closer to warcraft 3) I was good with the first showcase of model. They gave me the feel of more realistic closer to games like diablo art style and I did love that idea. I did not invest in learning everything because I was sad enough with what wow state was :D

as you mentioned in the title, blizzard could have done this - and so much more. unfortunately nowadays we only see "new" lore in the 20 year old wow engine. Still, huge shoutout to the fans who made it real.

I think it's bad to look at custom content from the perspective of "blizzard could've". That's not the Warcraft 3 community. Appreciate it for what the fans did, and forget about the never ending could'ves from blizzard. There is no blizzard anymore, literally, everyone left.

Sure. But, I still think it's sad because the IPs have so much potential. I'm over it. Maybe Microsoft will handle it differently with the purchase of Activision Blizzard... Maybe not.

Og warcraft 3, sc1 and 2. Diablo 123. Overwatch, heros of the storm all have old school blizzard model creation methods which use handdrawn textures. Reforged (and technically Diablo 4) models however are not hand drawn, there is some handdrawn elements in Chronicles models as well especially in more special stuff like the human throne that Doomhammer is sitting onas but most of it is just recombined Reforged models. Much of it being possible because of Reteramodelstudio.

Hey friend. :) Nice that you are exited but not all you said is actually correct. Some are new models made using other tools by the team but many are reforged items which were taken combined and textured changed into new different looking and unique components. Reforged with all it's issues in terms of models did a prettry good job with the units out of all and more then 90% of the times we use their models but with new textures or changed shapes to the original. For example: The swords that Maim uses are from the pitlord default reforged weapon. The model is scaled and adjusted as one-handed swords.

@@FollowGrubby Nah np the only reason I know that is because I also am a reforged modeler and had some contributions. You are not wrong about the fact that their unique and that the work that was put in speaks for itself.👌 Reforged gave us a lot that we can work with, at least that was good🤣 Hope You enjoy the entire story many good moments are yet to come.

And because of Reforged models we now get PBR, facefx, popcornfx and moving grass, tech pipelines that are completely unnecessary in remastering Warcraft 3. Couple that with mostly unoptimized models with the average unit clocking in 40000 polygons and you get... Chronicles of the second war, just shy of 4GB. Imagine installing Reforged which is 28 FB than wanting to play 20 HD maps with 4GB each, that's 80GB and with rf itself we get a total game size of 108GB. One of Warcraft 3s biggest advantages was that your maps are not as chonky and clunky as mods, but thanks to Reforged, we are about as unnecessarily fat as Skyrim mods. And because of far more complicated model making process, the dream of the regular person getting into map making and not needing miracle teams and an arsenal of donations to make something work is pretty much dead. Thank you Reforged models, for being the one good thing out of Reforged, truly. I didn't even start about the fact that it's poor art direction meant that projects that existed could not transition smoothly, something that blizzard promised pretty much.

@@StormKnight1 so I gues you prefer the classic which is fine. I prefer hd models even if the game is incomplete it's 2024 and I do love looking at some more beautifull evolved graphics. I love the spellforce 3 game for example of another RPG/RTS which has amazing graphics even if the story was changed to much which I did not like. I will not say they did a good job they started doing a good job and left it unfinished

@@silviumatei7403 I prefer classic over Reforged but I'm not going to reject a properly done HD mode with more reasonable technical decisions curated especially for ease of modders, consistent stylish art and performance. Also if anyone tells you the only problem with the models is that they're unfinished, theyz lying to you, the models are not just unfinished, their entire technical and artistic direction was set in complete disregard of the games audience and content that was being actively made and worked on by passionate people. It's not a secret that blizzard didn't appoint samewise as the art director for Reforged who is the father of blizzard art instead bringing Brian Sousa who not only left halfway through, his best idea on how Warcraft 3 should look was the mists of pandaria cinematic from wow. I'm not making this up btw it's all proper information from blizcon and/or leaked info from the fallout post Reforged. They also ignored numerous people within their own team that warned them that this is a bad direction to take the games visuals to. Not to mention the fact they promised impossible things like giving their internal tools to the community, the only reason Reforged can even be remotely modded is because a single one of Warcraft 3s old tool writers stuck around and cared long enough to update it's tool to get around a billion and one issue. You know something went terribly wrong when instead of most people embracing a facelift of a legendary rts game it's more like most people take distance or just tolerate it at best. I gotta try spellforce 3 by the way, it's the only significant rts of my growing up era that I skipped :(

Fans did a pretty good job. Another 12 minute cutscene though! Pay attention to the average WC3 cutscene. They used other methods of story development (in game cutscenes, in game dialogue)

@Grubby you can basically teleport to upper location, if there is double cliff (2 levels of cliff), it is a bug in the engine. It just requires pixel accuracy. There was a feature in custom map "Island Troll Tribes" that required knowing that functionality.

This is amazing work and makes me happy to be a fellow fan and tempted to get Warcraft 3 reforged now just to play this but I also feel angry because of how badly Blizzard failed this amazing game and finally sad because Blizzard have everything they need to make a new legendary RTS if they were just willing to do a true remake composed of all 3 Warcraft RTS and using the expanded lore they added in World of Warcraft, there is just so much they could do with it but in the end it will all just go to waste and that could possible be their greatest crime in the end.

After watching this video, I had this weird dream last night in which I was a troll in the Second War Horde, and our mission was to take over a mall , and my job was to climb over this weird Elven arch like you sometimes see in WarCraft III (the mall had some sort of interior theme park running down the central hallway), but I was actually a really bad climber, so I managed to get up and get across, but was in the process of awkwardly turning around to be able to get down the other side when I was noticed by the kids' chaperones, who were then expressing concern. Oh, the shame . . . and I never did figure out how to actually get down the other side.

About the artstyle: close up it looks really good. When you zoom out, the game looses its contrast, like it had a soft fog all over it that you can't see from close up. I saw similar thing in RE3 Remake, when I was browsing mods, and one of those removed that foggyness, and the game looked better already. Altho you might say that foggy look suits RE3. But not Warcraft. PS: the game speed seems a bit slow, slower than WC3. I watch the video on 1,25x speed, that seems better.

I get what you mean, the game does feel a bit slow even when I was playing. I think this is because we zoom out a lot more than usual WC3 so it feels and looks slower.

It's just what happens when you have super detailed textures zoomed out 20x times on a finite resolution screen, details just dissappear. RTS in general don't look that great with modern realism graphics; hence why the WC3 original style remains timeless yet.

They could just open studio xD hire bunch of fans, give them 10 more people from blizzard for support and do reforge in halftime and halfbudget with far better quality

The orc on the right of the screen at 3:04 is wearing a shoulder armor that is EXTREMELY commonly found in Wow. I really believe the armor and weapons are Wow assets and therefore not "hand drawn" like you claim. The 3D assets found in the cinematics with buildings for example also typically look like the type of 3D assets found in Wow. Did the creators tell you that they hand drew everything ?

Sounds like there are assets missing. Afaik there is a seperate installer you need to download for these, not only the custom campaign itself. Havent got around to play myself yet, so im not 100% sure on that.

They are. Doomhammer killed not all of them. And then Gul'dan would surrender and pledge loyalty to Doomhammer in exchange for creating unstoppable warriors. Of those not purged, Gul'dan and Cho'gall would of course have questionable loyalties, while others, like Nekros would stay loyal to the Horde.

@@konstantinriumin2657 For some reason Theron'gor is killed by Gul'dan later in the campaign to create the first deathknight, and he was not pleased about that. But initially campaign shows him as the few spared and inprisoned.

TLDR: Yes and no. It happened in phases. 1. The purging of the shadow council happened in phases - the first purge happened at the beginning of the campaign offscreen, leaving only Guldan and three of his lieutenants alive. Nekros, in particular, was spared because he was a student but actually a dragonmaw orc. The rest surrendered while guldan was asleep and in communion with medivh. 2. Guldan woke up and weaseled his way out of death by striking a "You need me" bargain. Left on a short leash, but not short enough, he plotted behind doomhammers back to take power by flipping the less loyal ogres while seeking absolute power for himself. 3. Later on, the final "decimation" of the shadow council happened after guldans treacherous move during the siege of lordaeron, when he rerouted himself and his forces to the tomb of sarg. Doomhammer left the field to personally kill guldan to prevent him and the last members of the shadows council - cho'gall, teron'gor (nekros rejoined the dragonmaw and was spared by then) from gaining the power to usurp the horde, thereby lifting the siege of lordaeron and causing the war to shift in the Alliance's favor. All downhill from there. 🫡

I think it’s funny when consumers of the fantasy genre get up in arms when bad people in the story do bad things. Hate to burst your bubble, but half-orcs are rarely the product of a human male who wants an Orcish muscle-mommy. That interaction was probably far less voluntary. Believe it or not, bad people do bad things, and usually the innocent suffer. That’s one area where fantasy and reality tend to agree. If bad people don’t do bad things, it’s no believable and the suspension of disbelief we offer tends to break down.
