"hides the fact they don't mean nothing" he's supposed to be a English teacher and he comes out with this 😂😂😂
@holm819 жыл бұрын
dee bee Since when did truth stop counting as meaningful bars? He's right. The faster the pace of rapping, the more words and the harder it is to decipher the meaning of what is said, the more it all resembles inflation. And the "impressing" effect of it being said fast, I would also say, hides the fact that less is actually being said.
@SamHen999 жыл бұрын
holm81 I think he meant because it's a double negative...
@holm819 жыл бұрын
JumpUpSoldier Point taken. :) But it's after all rap, which was born out of, and continues to use slang. IMO for the better.
@deebee27819 жыл бұрын
yes I get that, but the meaning of what he was was that blizzards bars make sense, as its a double negative, rap is about being smart, if you can insult and/or disrespect your opponent by using smart bars then that makes you a better mc, if there's "mc 1" and "mc 2" for example in a battle and mx 1 comes out with more insulting bars but aren't that clever, but mc 2 comes out with bars that aren't as insulting but are clever then mc 2 wins, that's how it works, so basically the smarter mc is the better mc, and being a victim of accidental-double-negative side of things is not a good/clever thing to be doing, specially when you're supposed to be a English teacher
@holm819 жыл бұрын
dee bee I guess I understand your logic, ie. that the smartest bars always wins. I think I agree with that. Though I can imagine clever and unfunky bars losing to funky fresh ones, qua this also being a musical/soul genre. Principally, and from battle rap viewing experience, I completely agree though. Where I would disagree is weather double negatives are clever or not. I know formally, you ain't supposed to do none of that shit. But taking the history of rap into account, seeing as it has grown out of a ghetto culture, where this type of language is common, I think it's a type of flair and actually some kind of ability to listen to the form of the medium and adapt to it's informality and flowpatterns - and thus, really quite clever. Both Grist and Blizzard came correct though. Both where clever. I have to give respect to Grist for staying so much within the limits of regular battle rap though, iscold dissing Blizzards moms etc. Shit is tough. Peace.
