Now that I'm in my 30s, with way more life experience than the teenager that obsessively listened to Bloc Party, I recognise now that this song is just Teal Swan's Completion Process. The relationship is testing and they are regressing into their memories of being incapable children, that they need to talk and accept their despair, to reach their souls, to become whole, to reclaim their destiny and maturation into adults once more, protecting their scared inner child by coaching that their feelings aren't monsters to be scared of or to deny, but are valid and real aspects of themselves that need to be heard and honoured to calm their ripples of their soul.

Joel Dallison Nah he's a pretty shy guy anyways. I think him and Kele just didn't really get along anymore and there was an incident on tour which lead to him leaving.
