This cavendish was protected by rosinante. The card says "base cost of five". I think it doesnt matter that he reduced his cost because its base cost and not cost.

The cost isn't the problem here, rosinante protect only ACTIVE 5 cost caracter, Cavendish was rested so it wasn't protected by rosinante's effect
