It happened to me three weeks ago as well. I uploaded a video where I was building a turntable, and it was going viral with 100,000 views in just a few hours. KZbin, as a "reward," disabled it. Flatline until the 6th day after publication, then they put it back online. I don’t think it’s possible to make a video invisible because it was still visible, but the views weren’t counted. The video ended up with 137,000 views in total. What can we do? NOTHING!

KZbin wants to be more advertiser friendly. Advertisers want videos that are viewed by as many people as possible. Mellow, uninteresting videos are very advertiser friendly, but not very interesting so people don't watch them. Controversial videos are not very advertiser friendly, but they draw a lot of viewers. The only way to solve this problem is to pick a side, if you try to balance you'll almost always choose the path of caution, fewer and fewer people will find the entertainment/education they are looking for from KZbin. Advertisement money goes down, and the cycle repeats. It's not my company, and I'll still come here to figure out how to install a new cabin air filter in my jeep, watch Fran, AvE and a few others, but so many have left for their own adventures or other platforms simply to ease the stress of dealing with KZbin.

You do have offline backups of your channel, I hope? Glad you have an "unknown YT advocate" helping to keep your channel alive. BTW: I have that same Heathkit clock I built in 1974, and it still works. It does flicker a bit. I've seen your video about the capacitor / refresh rate modification. I'll get on that one day. It has other odd issues, likely due to cold solder joints. I was quite young when I built that kit.

I am sure that YT is aware of automated flagging and reporting for trolling reasons; a channel of your size/reach would probably have a review of sorts happening, which is what I assume was going on after those 45 minutes... I'm more worried about smaller channels like mine getting hit by somebody stupid like that. YT can't have every flag manually validated.

If you had enough patreons or members, you could do what other channels have done and just don't make public videos anymore. I do think the circulation shutdown is automatic based on some threshold of reports, it's the reactivation that's manual. But I agree, it's stupid that KZbin is incapable of differentiating between a concerted scheme by trolls to flag videos and genuine complaints.

It's distressing that you're having to experience the stress, anxiety, and trauma of being targeted like this. If youtube fails to defend content providers from the bad actions of bad actors, i.e. trolls, then the platform doesn't deserve quality content. At the end of the day, Fran Labs is a one of a kind resource. If creative tinkering, ingenuity, and practical engineering were coins, Fran Lab would be treasure. SlashDot had a good moderating system, it punished trolls via meta-moderation. If you were a frequent poster, with good karma ,ie you posted useful information, you would periodically get moderation points that you could use. Mostly to upvote, but you could downvote and there are multiple categories, ie funny, insightful, troll, etc. Then after you'd moderated a few times, you would get a meta moderation point where you could review moderation on a post and agree or disagree with it. Best of all you could browse at whatever moderation level you wanted, but if you really wanted to see the cesspool, you could turn off filters.

KZbin is dying. The crap the viewer bases spends their time watching is insane. Only very small audience is real and conscious to watch things that have a plot or story. Is anyone else here like "I smile because I have no idea what's going on" ? Yea, that's me most of the time. I don't really get it. But I don't really get it either. 😊 I'm just here for the cool videos and mainly to have something in the background to have on the TV to go to sleep too. I mean, you have to admit, the Audio quality on this channel has always been spot on. Fran's channel is about the best example from WAY early on that still to this day, sounds just like a busy labs or work environment if you are into that sort of thing. It comforting. Do I do any of the projects, or build any of the cool stuff or even play the guitar very often? Nope. I just kind of like watching it just like I use to watch PBS, or reruns where you just put the TV on Autopilot and have it run through its paces, while I mindlessly waffle about whatever I was doing.

Its really silly that despite youtube already knowing the content of a video uploaded to the platform, the video can still be nuked by just a bunch of trolls flagging it. That really does not compute. And many content creators suffers from this. It should never be possible for random humans to automatically take down content on youtube, it should be flagged for internal review and be checked whether the flagging has any merit or not and only after careful consideration, should any action be taken. But as it is now, it's just complete garbage. urgh...

You get lost in special words, like trolls, bots, any words that mean some special mean type of humans. Perhaps you think that humans, for the large part, exist with a tendency to be kind and caring which is marred by the cruelty from a smaller number of us. But, what if many of us have a stronger tendency to be kind and sharing? And what if many of us have a stronger tendency to be cruel and selfish? And, what if the kind and sharing people, as well as the cruel and selfish people, are born in roughly equal numbers? What would civilization look like? In pre-electronic times when we were constrained to speaking face to face, cruel and selfish people, individually and in small groups, were refrained from too much cruelty just to maintain some societal acceptance. Now, in our realm of remote communication, cruel and selfish people suffer from no such restraints to glorify in expressing their cruel and selfish nature. The numbers of people who find excitement in attacking you and anybody else is far, far greater than some number of trolls or bot managers.
