I guess by now the Drain Team will be identifying proble.s with the sewer at the outset from the clues presenting on the top of the gully water.
Did you see the milky fat laying on the top of the water ? A pretty good indication of what we are up against further down the line.
I clear many drains in the Wirral area and I guess it's the same story everywhere , fat will build up in your drain and clogg it.

Mental after all that jetting and overflowing it ended up going with a couple of plunges in the end. I don’t even know why some of them end up being that stubborn to clear but then again it’s certainly really satisfying seeing the blockage clear. Shame there wasn’t any access but you got there 👍🏻

Hi Tony. What the bleep is going on with house design these days. No manholes, access points under fences between properties, internal soil stacks, who keeps coming up with these crazy ideas. I bet you that the architect that designs these places has the most accessible systems available. Is it possible to retro fit a man hole or interceptor? Don't forget I was a nurse not a plumber.😉

I know, we get a lot of this here. I think it must have been down to cutting corners originally. Yes, a manhole can be fitted retrospectively depending on the depth of the drain. Thanks Susan have a great weekend.

@Susan Mahony Usually it’s not always a case of there always being “no access points”, you sometimes get a few where rogue builders have laid block paving or built extensions over existing manholes which is not necessarily common, but certainly possible with some properties. Sometimes it’s also down to what Tony has also said, about some builders cutting corners by installing limited or no access at all, although it’s always critical for most properties old and new to have one. Interceptors haven’t been installed for decades and are now a thing of the past, given that people flush all sorts down the toilet these days, which makes them incapable of taking a greater load and blocking up the trap.

Always fun doing battle with a sewer line clogged with grease. You go through the clog and it seals itself right behind the head. And then you have the smell and the slippery floor to deal with. Fun fun. That was a tough one but you got it. Cheers Tony. 👍👍👍
