Good job Erik. Nice camera work on showing us how to do this install, and for explaining the reasons behind what you did. Blockhead is lucky to have a friend like you.

I installed the Powerstop drilled and slotted rotors with the ceramic/carbon fiber pads on my fx4 and it was a world of difference over oem. Best upgrade I have done to my f150 by a long shot! Also a few years of Minnesota winters and they still looked brand new.
@BlockheadMoto2 жыл бұрын
Yeah the before vs after was crazy! Definitely recommend 🤘🏼 Glad to hear they’re standing up to winters there!

I highly recommend replacing the lug nuts if they are stock ford ones. They have a tendency to swell (known issue) and make it impossible to get them off. Now this is more of a problem say in Ohio than Florida, but still worth something to look into.
@Mike_Jones682 жыл бұрын
Yep, F those stock ones. I had to do this just this weekend with my new tire purchase, Im in CO and I am sure in some areas it is worse than others, but even with this dry climate here they still were swollen. OEMs know that this is an issue all over, yet still sell a vehicle with those garbage lugs on them. God forbid someone gets caught with a flat and cant even get the lug tool on on the side of the road. I think it is irresponsible regardless of slight bump in cost, the car manufacturers are putting people in a bad spot just to then sell you an "upgrade" kit at the dealership for 3x the cost I just spent at the local tire dealer. Ridiculous to say the least

Good choices on brakes if you want aftermarket suspension go with Icon or King those are the best for a Raptor

Yoooo! I just did the same job on my frontier with a Powerstop brake and pad kit! I didn’t bleed. The full towing kit with ceramic pads and drilled/slotted rotors were less decent pads and rotors from a parts store. I didn’t do the rear, but I will within the next month or so.

So this is why I like it when you do something like that Block & Eric! I am doing the breaks on my 2010 Dyan Street Bob and I was wondering how I was going to get the break pistons to re-seat so that I could get the pads on and get them easily on the rotator. I have never seen a piston spreader and would have not known what to call it to start with. 5 min later I found one and it's on it's to me now. You guys made my weekend so much easier. THANK TOU!

German SUV’s have huge diameter rotors. Euro standards must pass 25 emergency stops without brake fade. Look at a BMW X5 rotor then look at a GM’s Escalade rotor. Huge difference in size. Drilled and slotted are better than no drilled/slotted. They can not be resurfaced, though. I found that at with my Porsche Panamera. Had to replace brakes and rotators at 38,000 miles for $4200.

Well the weather is dropping below 30 degrees. Time to breakout the Johnson’s Baby Shampoo and clean the gear so I don’t have to worry about it in the spring.

I’ve got a 2018/2019 Ford F150 that I’m looking to do the same brake swap on and for some reason I keep running into the issue of some companies have all four corners however they are not for the electronic rear parking brake. I imagine the raptor has to have the electric parking brake. Have you seen any difference between the Electric parking brake and the manual brake set up? Thank you and good video.

Great video. So I have a 4" bds lift on my 16 f150 XLT with Toyo ATlll 295 -60-20's . Wondering if the heavier front end is causing the pulsating on my front brakes. Will these Powerstop Extremes be more able to handle the extra weight and stress from braking because I believe this is causing the pulsating on my front end.

Full disclosure! The fully synthetic grease is going to burn away quickly; As in, right away. The “oil” on the rotors is an antioxidant and rust resistant product to prevent future damage due to shipping and transport. Also, it sometimes does take some time for the rotors to get used. Most of the time people are SUPER CHEAP! Don’t want to spend the extra $100 to $200 dollars for a new quality replacement set (not par; par is two)

I'm not sure why I watched this. I know how to bleed brakes. I suppose I just like my blockhead/baggerbro content. I knew something was seized when you had a cracked pad. Might check and make sure the caliper is releasing as it should. It can stick and heat up all that hardware so that the grease liquifies and runs out.

You say the previous rotors were cheap Chinese rotors. Powerstop rotors are also made in China
