This is an ideal product for non-DCC layouts. Very well demonstrated & explained.

I had to give up my layout a year or so ago due to failing eyesight and health. I always soldered wires to the track and, as you say, it was very unreliable. The fish plate idea is sheer simple genius.

I wired up all of the route lights on 3 mimic boards with the block signalling units,nice & straight forward easy to wire products.

Interesting product. Thanks for explaining it. I was surprised about your comments on soldering to track. I usually use a rotary tool with an abrasive disk to prepare the side of the rail and a flux cored solder; never had a problem.

I've not had too much of an issue when I am able to solder to a piece of track before laying it. But once it's down I've not had good experiences of soldering to it. Depends on ease of access a lot though.

Fun! Nice to see someone sticking to DC control and advancing it. We can’t all afford DCC. We need more DC development. Well done block signaling, I guess I could even do this with Hornby Dublo 3-rail👍👍 If you don’t like soldering to the track Bill, why not just solder to a fishplate? Edit: I see that’s what you did 😂
@hughoconnor91723 ай бұрын
Not sure about more DC development- there's actually very little that can't be done in DC though perhaps the knowledge has been forgotten?

I like the look of this unit, it seems to solve all the issues I have had with the normal shuttle units that have been available so far. I'm not quite sure why you don't trust soldered joints to rails, My layout was built over 35 years ago using wires soldered to the rails for supplying the power. The layout has been dismantled, stored in the loft and garage, moved from Kent to Lincolnshire and re-erected in our new home without a single failure of a soldered joint. I have had to add wires soldered to rails to bridge simple dry fishplate joints because of tarnishing over the years in storage. I think good soldered joints are more than good enough.

It's not so much soldering to track in itself it's soldering to track that is already part of a layout and ballasted.

Great video, really like your tip on using fishplates for your droppers. I have a DCC layout however I can’t think of any reason for that not to work.

That’s brilliant Bill, well done to the supplier and you for working out the programming 👍 do the locos need to be dcc fitted for this to work ?
@HowardLeVert3 ай бұрын
No, it's designed for 'pure' DC control. I wonder if it will work with Hornby-Dublo too?
@oobill3 ай бұрын
@@HowardLeVert It works best with very smooth running locos that don't need a lot of volts to get going.
