Brother Paul would be a great asset for universities ;nice idea to see him giving lectures on his own platform next to educating students. With a background in philosophy and a lot of knowledge in general, good communication skills and his muslim identity-; truly a gem mashaAllah. The sessions are very good👌🤲

Dear brother Paul, I studied all these in parts at high school, at uni and during my Master's degree in the UK. So little of them have stuck with me! Now watching your lectures, I'm re-learning them and I finally connect the dots because they make sense to me now through the lens you bring on board. This is not a mere compliment, Allah blessed you with impeccable teaching capacities and having life experience and knowledge from both sides of the 'story'. Please keep teaching AND please put these lectures together in a book to inform wider Muslim audience about the Western perpective and culture. Your contribution would be so helpful.

I'm sorry to say this, but what was the point of your education then?

@@starsian What's your point of asking me this question? To look down on me or to look down on education? Have you studied these topics and do you remember all of them in full detail? If that's the case, why did you bother watching this video? Please reflect on how you could be kinder and more positive towards others. Your belittling comment left me with bitterness about what I open heartedly shared here. Is that your aim? Do you strive to bring hostility and bitterness to something positive? Or are you plain jealous that brother Paul is good at teaching?

Salaams. An important point regarding the Protestant Work Ethic that is very relevant to today's world, is that of the rebooting of Usury (Riba) in Catholic Christiandom. Interestingly the part of the riba verses of the Quran in Surah Baqarah ( " they say riba and bayae are the same") are surprisingly the same in Protestant Christianity.

Good stuff, nice to see you on a stage. But some constructive criticism if I may: Try to eliminate the vocal fillers from your speeches/lectures (and also when you can, if you could repeat the questions from the audience on your mic). To be quite honest, this lecture had way less fillers than the other two. I merely reposted here in hopes you/others may see it and benefit. Pausing is fine, the audience does not care that you fill in the space. These spaces seem longer in our minds when presenting. They are not that long and actually are healthy for a successful presentation. There's a skillset on knowing when to pause between sentences when making points. Take care brothaman. Seeing as it's your entrance into the lecturing scene it will be a learning process just like everything in life for all of us. We can all always improve in whatever we're doing.

Wow what brother Paul just read about what Martin Luther said about the Muslims being the rod of the answer of Allah upon the Church is amazing‼️👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 great work brother Paul in following your presentation from the beginning. Brother Paul since your focusing on the Renaissance can you speak about Dante Alighieri and good divine comedy. You must make this awareness about what he said about the Prophet Muhammad and Ali.

Renaissance of course means ‘rebirth’..in French… so it was a rebirth of European classicalism in the 13th century based on the Bible, the Greek and Roman culture.. the reformation actually began in the 15th century, 200 years later. In fact the Renaissance may have its origin in the translation of the Bible into German and other languages when it became available to the masses.. artists and thinkers then took the biblical and classical stories and reinvented them into modern genre of the time.. even architecture was re-visualised into Roman and Greek style.. the crusades had a huge influence because it unified most of Europe towards one common goal.. to resist Islam… which persist even today😏

Another great talk, brother Paul. As far as Evangelicals in America today being Calvinists--as with most things, it's complicated. I'd say as a whole, Evangelical believers in America aren't particularly theologically minded. I would also say the most theological of the Evangelicals (already a minority) tend to be Reformed (Calvinist), and some reject the label "Evangelical" because of the theological diversity (and lack of theological rigor) in much of what is called "Evangelical" today. What I personal observed in my 50+ years when I was an Evangelical was that there were three major groups: *Reformed (Calvinist) *Pentacostal/Charismatic *Non-Calvinist majority On that last group, they could largely be described as Arminian (Jacobus Arminius was a Dutch theologian who, point by point, refuted Calvinism), or (at best) "One Point" Calvinists (that is, of the 5 parts of Calvinistic doctrine, known by the acronym "TULIP", they accept only the 5th point, "the perseverance of the saints"--or "once saved, always saved"). Also, for the majority of non-Pentacostal, non-Calvinist Evangelicals, it's dominated by Dispensationalism. This is also why they're the biggest cheerleaders in the Christian world for Israel. You also mentioned the Protestant Work Ethic and how being prosperous is a sign of God's favor. In Pentacostal/Charismatic circles, that's metastasized into the "Prosperity Gospel", where if one has enough faith, they will be wealthy and healthy. They believe if you have enough faith, God will give whatever you ask of him...and contrawise, if you're sick and poor, it's because you're not showing enough faith. This is often the manipulative technique used by Televangelists who say if you demonstrate your faith by donating generously to them, God will make you rich in response. EDIT: I'd also add that even though a minority of Americans (and even a minority of Evangelicals) are Calvinist, they heritage has had a remarkable effect on American culture, in particular, in the New England states (that were largely settled by Calvinists). What you pointed out as this "us vs. them attitude" does dominate our politics, and it's very apparent in New England among the liberals/progressives. They are largely no longer Christians, but they still have this dualistic view of the world--they are the forces of light and progress, opposing the Republicans who they view as the forces of darkness and evil. And though largely not settled by Calvinists, in the southeast of this country, there is much dualism there as well, with Republicans (dominated by Evangelicals) viewing Democrats as essentially evil.

Muslims live in Poland/Lithuania since late 14th century. it was a huge problem for all nations West of us. Poland had the largest Christian-Muslim border in the world at the time. for most of the time we actually kept quite good relations (exceptnfor some wars of course). there was a massive exchange of trade, culture and learning. there were a number of Polish people who became Muslim as early as 16th century - e.g. Wojciech Bobowski (later known as Ali Ufiqi) who came from Polish reformed Christian (kalvinist) family! later on he became a personal translator for the Sultan, as well as the most famous music writer of the time. he translated Bible into Ottoman Turkish, and Quran into Latin, as well as numerous other religious texts (Christian hymns, roman Catholic catechism, etc). we still have some of his music preserved untill today.

For a greater understanding of western civilization might I recommend Islam and Secularism by Syed Muhammad Naquib al Attas, and Rethinking Islam and the West by Paul Keeler. And I would recommend that Keeler be brought onto Blogging Theology for an interview as his ideas are essential for a future where the collective west weakens and the muslims becomes the global leaders of the world. So his ideas becomes more important as we shift away from a Progress based global narrative to a Mizan based global narrative.a
