Fun fact: Matt Smith was going to be a professional footballer until a back injury tossed that dream out the window. Then he went into acting. And, as was already stated, he plays football in "The Lodger." Great scene, lots of fun, look forward to it!

I met Matt Smith at Comic Con and he was just so sweet! I messed up my picture and had to take a second one later and he was just so nice and sweet about it. I was literally shaking and he rubbed my back and calmed me down lol. I was quite young and nervous then. I’d love to have the opportunity to meet him again, I’m older and more confident now so I could make better conversation

that is so sweet omg :') everyone who talks about meeting him always says how nice he was and it makes me so happy. i also met him when i was much younger and despite the way the people in charge rushed us rather rudely, i still felt really welcomed by him. I look back on the memory fondly even if i have a hard time recollecting it bc i was a total mess too at the time lol

I love how the woman from X Files is so condescending towards her fans and yet Matt is like "i love it, i think it's really cool!" That's what i love about the cast of Doctor Who, like David, John, Matt, Karen. They give so much to the fan base and are happy to give up their weekends to meet fans at conventions. Perhaps it was just this interview, but i got the impression that Gillian Anderson doesn't care much for her fans.

The Doctor uses the name "John Smith" quite often as a alias, especially the10th Doctor (not sure about the Classic Doctors cause I didn't see that many episodes), so 11th Doctor just uses it once or twice because he's used to do so.
