Moon River is about two lovers, slowly drifting apart as they take on different paths in life, but, however sad that may be for both of them, they know it’s the best thing to do, and as they move on, memories, wether good or bad will still remain. There is still a sense of attachment, felt by the two, “wherever you’re going, I’m going the same”, but they know they’ll have to keep going. This really brings back memories.

I’m in that phase of life rn. But pretty sure I’m the only one left with dealing with the feeling of sense of attachment while the other person probably already happily moved on with someone new. This song hits hard specially after reading your comment and leaves a bittersweet feeling. What’s funny is that he was the same person who introduced me to Frank’s songs.

For anyone who wants to play this on guitar, here's how :) The whole song is based on this one, long chord progression with a single down strum per chord! It repeats about 4 times through the whole song. C, Am, F, C, F, C, Bm7, E7 Am, G, F, Fm, C, Am, F, G The only part that is different is after Frank stops singing at the very end, that part just repeats this: C, Am, F, G Hope that helps out! If you get stuck or need any extra help, I just uploaded a video lesson for this on my channel :)

Me and my boyfriend first got together the day this was released. I remember listening to it with him and thinking it was the most beautiful thing I'd ever heard and blubbing like a baby. This song is a reminder that some of the most wonderful things in life are finite (we are no longer together) but that's okay! We're all following our moon rivers and often that means parting ways with those we love. I keep on scrolling through these comments hoping he'll be here too commenting , reminiscing ... So far I've had no luck ... (As cliche as this is) Brandon I love you I hope our paths cross again.

Moon river is actually the river styx, she is talking about living and dying, loving someone in such a way that death would be of little consequence as long as you got to swim in their wake.

L Malachi that’s crazy! Thank u for sharing that .... stay strong! I think it’s sometimes hard to accept that you can’t just automatically turn off your feelings for someone but that’s partly the magic of it too ... it’s what makes relationships and friendships worthwhile

This song just means so much to me. It made me go from thinking about that I may be chasing someone that I think I may be falling in love with, to realizing that I mostly am chasing and longing for my own self love and freedom. It made me ponder what I love the most at the core.. expression. I still do feel that this song reminds me of the person I care for.. but it mainly reminds me that I should be chasing my dreams and higher purpose as an individual. Thanks for this dope version Frank, it really spoke to me 🙏🏾

These modest changes don't degrade the original lyric's meaning, but make the same point, but these changes make that point in a style that adds a little... starkness to the beauty of the song... it's not better, not worse, just a little variant.

hey, i know how you're feeling right now. it's tough when things don't turn out the way you imagined. all those amazing times you had together, the future planning. it's like everything fell apart in a second. it's completely normal to feel sad and nostalgic about it. it's great that you still wish her the best, though. that shows a lot of maturity and kindness. sometimes, life has its own way of redirecting us, even if it doesn't make sense right away. maybe this is a step towards something new and better for both of you. it's okay to feel the way you do, and it's important to take the time to process everything. remember that you're not alone in this. things will get better with time, and you'll find new sources of happiness and meaning. stay strong, and keep your head up. you've got this brandon 🤍🤍

Me and my friends were lucky and were not near the 1200 building (Freshman building) where the shooting occurred at Stoneman Douglas. My heart is out to Aaron Feis, who I called Coach Feis. He would be up before anyone else, opening up the gates in the parking lot, and he had such a good heart. He's a fucking hero, running towards the shots and shielding students when he got shot. I love you Coach, may you rest easy and be at the gates of Heaven, just like you always were in the morning making sure everyone was safe and in school. PrayForDouglas. Edit: I chose this song to post this comment because the emotion and chills really hit me close to my heart, not because it was trending. This isn't for likes, nor popularity. You don't have to like this, or comment, this is just me speaking from the heart about someone who died. this is a tribute.

Personally I like Frank Oceans version better than Andy Williams version. But its not like it was Andy Williams song either, he was also covering the song. Audry Hepburn is the original performer, and it was written for Breakfast at TIffanys by Henry Mancini.

So many viewers here don't realize this is a cover of a Henry Mancini song (the guy who created the pink panther theme). It's from the 1960s and the key song for Brekfast at Tiffany with Audrey Hepburn. Moon river is a river in Georgia (USA), where the lyricist Johnny Mercer grew up. The song is actually about a person reliving his fond childhood memories and chasing happiness and impossible goals. Despite the somber tone, it's actually a positive song about realizing that the narrator may never actually achieve their dream/goals, but they enjoy the journey.
@mikew8383ify5 жыл бұрын
Who ever is responsible for putting Frank Ocean's cover of "Moon River" in the ending slo-mo sequence of "When They See Us" is a genius an effing genius!!! The song has nostalgic overtones that takes one back to a simpler youthful time, but it's ending in this movie creates a paradox with the viewer. While it causes one to reflect and feel all the warm & fuzzy feelings of being a wide eyed younger person it pulls at the heart strings when we look at each member of "The Central Park 5" in slow motion and realize that all the great young teenage memories we were pondering over they themselves were denied those very same memories. . Kudos to those that came up with the score of this film as it played extremely well with the cinematography!!! You know it's done well when every time you listen it elicits such a strong and sad emotional response!!! 😭😭💔🙏🏿👍🏿

i will never hear this song without thinking of my ex. i never met his maternal grandma who had passed, but he would always saw how much she loved this song. i dont think she had ever heard frank ocean's version, but it's just perfect. and as for my ex, i truly hope that i get the chance to see him again and thank him for everything he taught me and the way he so patiently loved me. it's one of those relationships where i was happy in so many ways and also so in my head overthinking and not at a point where i was comfortable asserting myself & being fully honest. covid hit about 6 months after we met so that threw us for a loop and revealed so much about our world and ourselves but instead of taking actions to better myself and get where I wanted and needed to be, I ended up taking a lot of my frustrations out on him and becoming very nit picky and just not the type of supportive partner that I was so obsessed with having him be for me. it's all still so fresh and brings me so much pain and shame to see now in hindsight how awful i was to him in so many ways. i know i cant go back and im working on accepting that and living in the present. i still have so much love for him and i hope in some way he can still feel that, even in spite of my actions. we really both are two drifters off to see the world and i love that, this song, youtube comments sections, and anyone who can relate in any way.

Why not hit him up? Tell him you're sorry sincerely, tell him you've changed. Take the chance, girl.
@ASHLEYGLOBAL Жыл бұрын
Tell him your sorry despite if he wants to get back or not, but don't say that in your sorry. Just focus your sorry on him, not on getting back or not. If it seems like a good welcoming forgiving response from him, you can try asking to get back with him, and that you'll bring it show it this time you've changed if you truly were in the wrong there.
