“Definitive” is exactly right, Phil. This is the gold standard of what a box set can be. They did EVERYTHING right on this one. Clearly a work of love. No mix and matching that forces CD fans to purchase vinyl they don’t want or vice-versa. They even put out a version with just the new stuff so those who already had the albums weren’t forced to pay for them all over again. Absolutely superb set. Thanks for reviewing it.

This was my box set of the year -last year and I went for the uber set- and yes it was pricey but we shall never see it again from this iconic band- everything was perfect- when you look at the recent trend of one album deluxe sets costing a fortune- then this was very fairly priced for the content that we got. People should gab it while they can!

Haven't got it yet but will after yet another enthusiastic review and unboxing, thanks. Saw them twice in '78, Roundhouse and Hammersmith Odeon, both great gigs as I can remember with Debbie oozing star quality and the band were fantastic, driven relentlessly by Clem Burke on drums! It's good to see them finally receiving their well earned dues in such stunning packaging.

This set is phenomenal, I paid just under £75 for it, it's worth every penny, beautifully put together, informative, classy, the remastering is superb, bonus tracks galore and the story of the recordings told by the band themselves, my Box Set of the year, for me it is now the set I measure all future releases against, whoever oversaw this needs to be in charge of all important reissues from now on! The Pink Floyd DSOTM reissue is the other end of the scale, they need to be sacked!

Jeez that is a superb set dang. I looked at the prices on Discogs for both formats. Vinyl- £100 USD $148 standard set Deluxe is £329 USD 350 CD - £60 USD 108.

I would say that's a very good honest price point considering all you get here and as you mentioned some box sets don't look their money's worth whereas here I think there is genuine value for the buck or book in this case. I cannot say it's for me though cause I am not into Blonde but for those who are this is well worth getting.

Phil, Thanks for this review. I have some blondie cd's, and this set got me interested until you pulled out that huge 128 page Hardback book. I'll wait to see if this 8cd set comes out without that book, and the price drops. I did research and find a 3cd set of Blondie "Against the Odds" 1974-1982 with 52 tracks, minus the extra cds. Hi Phil, very enjoyable video! The CD version which you have reviewed is fantastic value I feel. You`ve got everything there you could ever want in a high quality package. Well done to the team who put it together! I used to be a big Blondie fan. Saw them live on more than one occasion and once managed to touch Debbie Harry`s hand! (Which seemed a big thing at the time!) The other thing that sticks in my mind from the gigs was Clem Burke`s drumming which was superb! First four albums for me are the best and in particular the first two of those. The vinyl set is very expensive but I think I should give some serious thought to replacing my Blondie CD collection with this box set. Thanks again for the video you have really given me something to think about!

I’ve decided to get the 4 lp set .. currently available on red vinyl .. a nice touch …I did pick up the 3 cd set for £20 … absolute bargain ….has all the bonus tracks of the super deluxe.. the 4lp is a bit leaner on that front … but it just looks so good .. Over in the Steve Hoffman site .. most agree these albums have never sounded better.. so a top set all round … Have a great weekend Phil … lots to listen too I hope …

If you bought the 2001 remasters of each album, the bonus tracks are different so they're worth keeping. Included are some tracks that are not available in this box. Back then, I was really happy to get a better CD copy of 'Parallel Lines'. Maybe mine was just part of a bad batch, but I thought the original CD sounded flat & dull - one of the worst sounding CD re-releases I've ever bought. That's saying something when you consider my original copy of that album was on 8-track.

Been on the fence about this myself, but I just ordered a copy based on this review. It really does look great. Have you ever avoided listening to an album by a band you love because you're afraid of being disappointed? For me, that includes 'The Hunter' - one look at that cover and.... Anyway, that's going to be the first disc I listen to.

@@NowSpinningMagazine I haven't received my box yet, but I finally listened to my thrift-store vinyl of Hunter. I really like that it's an experimental vein - much like Autoamerican. Autoamerican really threw me for a loop at the first listen. It became my favourite Blondie album on the spot. Anyway, I'm still going for the Hunter CD first when it arrives - but without the apprehension!
