This little locomotive is certainly shaping up to be beautiful. Thanks for sharing all your hard work including the occasional mistake along the way. We all make mistakes, and too many creators out there edit to the point of making it look like everything always goes perfect for them, which is just impossible in reality, and I believe only discourages people who are new to machining (or any hobby for that matter) when *they* make a mistake rather than making that a learning moment.

My lovely wife brought me coffee with Bailey's as I settled in to enjoy this morning's episode. I've seen all of them, and the fortified coffee is a weekly indulgence. She watched with me for a second, which she rarely does, then wondered aloud how much time you have in this project. I suggested that isn't the point, but now I wonder too. Imagine I'm a rich person who one day takes a keen interest in model railroading. If your shop rate is $125/hr, how much will this very cool train set cost me? I'm not rich, and I'm not keen on model trains, so I'm at a loss to explain why I've watched your show every Saturday for years. The whole thing fascinates me, and your presentation style is the best of all the styles. That's why, I guess. Nice work! P.S. My guess is $250,000 CDN.

Interesting question. I'll take a SWAG and say 3000 hours start to finish.
@emmajacobs557513 сағат бұрын
No offence to Quinn or her undoubted skills, but I wouldn’t commission a hobby machinist to build a model like this; a professional model maker would be quicker and you wouldn’t be paying for their learning curve, so would quite likely work out less expensive in the long run. Or if you’re really impatient, you could buy a similar hobbyist-made finished model loco for a lot less - around £3-5000 would get you something very nice.

Great video as always, Quinn! I especially liked how you left two small notches in the Tie Plate arch to delineate right side vs left side. It shows amazing craftspersonship that you were able to eyeball them into the final dimension during the bandsaw cut!

"In color" Quinn, you cannot be that old! You certainly do not look it. My earliest memories of that was the show FBI, which, oddly enough was a Quinn Martin production, do I smell a conspiracy? The intro to the show would be the FBI's Shield in the middle of the screen and the audio would state, a Quinn Martin production, starring Efrem Zimbalist Junior, and then they would state this phrase which is burned in my memory " In Color ". by the way, when I got a glimpse of the bracket I got super excited because there's so many different processes to be done on that part. I really enjoy your channel and always look forward to your next video. Thank you for the great content and thank you for just being you, because that adds so much to the videos. -Die hard fan of yours.... and Letterkenney.

If it's too small to read then scan it with a scanner set to maximum resolution (in my case 300dpi on a very small instruction manual obviously meant to be read by very small fairies) and turned into a pdf which can then be scaled up to A4 and printed. Also set to a B/W (black and white) setting. Making the manual so small is a way the Chinese pass on the minute extra cost of the paper onto the user.
