Dude the chorus just got me, the first line of each two lines is like a quote. "It doesn't happen to women I know, Put it in a box in a tv show, it doesnt happen to women i know God tell me why did he hurt my girl?" Like its all the men who say we're lying when we say every women in our lives has experienced some level of sexual predation or harassment, and refuse to care about the issue in a meaningful way until it happens to someone they love

'Made a killer of a pacifist' for sure this girl can write a song, carry a melody and her voice oozes emotion. This band are the Hole of this generation, that's as big a compliment as I can think of....
@yevgeniyaleshchenko849 Жыл бұрын
Yet the word ''pacifist'' is overused. I understand it's being used figuratively in this song yet as a Ukrainian I just can't tolerate this word because it's a naive empty word. It's easy to be ''pacifist'' when noone attacks you. Not aggressive person is not the same as ''pacifist'' because pacifists are IGNORANT shelted privileged people who get on the high horse and spout nonsense about things they know nothing about while bloodshed is committed elsewhere. Also, I don't think artists want to be compared to others. They are not the Hole, they are themselves.

I just heard this song on my local NPR station, and it floored me. Love the lyrics. And the music. I’m a Gen Xer, so the sound brings me back a bit. And that’s a good thing. I hope that younger generations dig it. I had some experiences…but usually, I was the psycho violent one. I was usually left alone for fear of an ugly reprisal. But not all young women are like that. I was only that way due to growing up in an crazy abusive series of situations. Left home at 15. I was strong. But there is always a cost; I didn’t trust any guy that was kind or loving. Got that from my momma. Got a lot from her boyfriends, too. Innocence is a rare commodity, it seems. I wonder what life would have been like, if I could love without fear?

This song is exactly how it felt when I found out both my sisters, my mother, best friend at uni, best friend home, girl on the train, myself, my cousin, my other cousin, the girls on my course, my coworker, have all sa or rped They make it sound like it so far away, the chorus feels like the child inside my heart screaming that this isn’t meant to happen, only on the tv. Not in my home town in England, not to my friends my family not to every woman I have opened up to. How how how yanno And all of them without exception who hurt my girls got away with it, I want to hurt them all

I love this song and the very beginning because it gives a feeling of, or sounds like a cross between the opening of the movie Halloween and a child's lullabye. And I think that might explain this song. Like, Don't ever piss off mama bear by hurting one of her cubs. And don't come creeping back just because you got away with it or you'll come face to face with a different kind of justice.

Great song, music and voice BUT the word ''pacifist'' is overused. I understand it's being used figuratively in this song yet in the essence it's a naive empty word. It's easy to be ''pacifist'' when noone attacks you. No-confrontational person (which was meant here) is not the same as ''pacifist'' because pacifists are IGNORANT shelted privileged people who get on the high horse and spout patronizing nonsense about things they know nothing about while bloodshed is committed elsewhere. It's not the synonym of ''not aggressive person''.

I don't know, I took the context of this lyric as "you hurt someone I love so much that I am willing to commit an act I find abhorrent." Which I think she calls back in the ending lyrics saying she doesn't know how to hurt him within our framework, because appealing to the law isn't enough, but women are taught not to be violent. Just my two cents.
