Mutant Football League is basically like that. Just without the dice and cutscenes. It's monsters, beasts, aliens and robots even has a dynasty mode which is like franchize.

It seems you are not aware, this is an adaptation of a tabletop tactical wargame, it's not an original project and it has worked for two installments now, so they are not going to mess up the third one by making it completely different. Especially not when the tabletop version is enjoying a resurgence in popularity.
