The music piece by Claudio Gizzi is called "The Old Age of Dracula", and indeed, we see the young mortal being transforming into the ageless, timeless Dracula, getting tired of his immortal supernatural being, feeling bad about his boring & bloodless future, as well as his doomed pitiful fate. So much to say and show!..and wow! indeed we see it all in his eyes in this short scene... with scanty gestures..almost no mimicry..no one word...but we understand all! That's some VERY impressive acting!

Cathy this film 40+ years ago still hasnt ever been shown on tv. The R rating or the ownership of the film Conti/Morrossiey maybe the reason? Can you shed some light on this.

@@lindanathan359 Hi Linda, nice to hear from you! ❤ The film has been shown on Russian TV many times in 1990s. This is how I saw it and FFF for the first time. I think that the film is not in the format of modern television. This applies to many countries. TV channels are mainly aimed at a family audience, so there will be more money. However, there must be some kind of channels showing such films .. I don't think this is a problem of the movie itself or the copyright for it. The film is shown at creative meetings with Udo Kier here and there...This means that modern copies are available for sale and display. Perhaps, the film is not advertised or offered to TV channels ... But rather, it is simply not taken for the reason I mentioned above. Today's television is very sanctimonious, aimed only at money.

The acting and music are very moving but the scene is supposed to be funny. After all, this is Dracula hiding his old age by putting on makeup and painting his hair, because he doesn’t have the blood that would make him look younger. The combination of humor and pathos is what makes this movie so remarkable and unique.

I saw this in '76 during a weekend student film showing at USF (Tampa) and was taken by the beautiful music. I returned the next day, with my Radio Shack cassette recorder and they let me come in (for free) for a few minutes, so I could record the brief portion where the theme is played by a Spanish guitar. It's been in my repertoire ever since.

Udo Kier is Dracula and Dracula is Udo Kier. I could not have imagine any other actors portraying the character of count Dracula other than Udo Kier. The profile of his face is just made to be in this character. Just flawless!
