Good interview. Wish it were longer. Coen Bros are so interesting and smart.

A fantastic and mostly under-appreciated film! In my view, two things made it work perfectly. . . . The pacing, which is PERFECTLY slow-ish to capture the style and story. . . . And M Emmet Walsh’s PERFECTLY quirky and seedy performance.

I wish I had the original home video version of Blood Simple in HD as it is the first way I experienced it, with different music cues here and there. I miss that version.

Is it different from the one that Criterion Collection offers?
@karaokeduncan2 жыл бұрын
@@CinemaLabyrinthine Yes- the Criterion version is the director's cut, which has the song "It's the Same Old Song" by the Four Tops appearing numerous times- and was in their original theatrical cut, but had to be changed for home video release. The cut that I'm most familiar with is 4 minutes longer than this version and contains the song "I'm a Believer" by Neil Diamond instead of the Four Tops song. I know it was restored to the Coen's original intention (and tightened by them)- but still miss my original experience of it. Both versions are great of course.

My all time favorite movie. First time out for Joel, Ethan, Frances, Carter .... all just kids... Seen it 13 times....my son is an actor and in a screenplay writing class the teacher assigned it to read. When Ray comes back from fishing trip he drops the fish on top of Loren's lighter. Those fish are red herring. He drops literal red herring on top of the metaphorical red herring. Name me another film that is that hip :D

After quite the ordeal with John Harvard at Cambridge, the extensive cargo of the clergy was declared a 'wardrobe' in or around the quiet and intimate events surrounding the Gettysburg Address,. Completely unlike the Sculptor's Class, which was founded near the fire escape of the tent where you go to find out whether or not the baby died, it gave over to other speeches. Trilogies giving over to prequels became common after that point. Deborah. Challenging or not, I hope you found this sensitive information interesting enough for you to write messages on your eye lids for Dr. Indy. Anyway. I am sure you will get an one hundred plus A.

@@CinemaLabyrinthine Darrell Krietz, worked on production and was the stunt hand that she stabs in the window. Van Brooks is the guy that gets moved from the jukebox. I bought a car from one of the local location managers i was friends with, who was offered a job in LA after production. It was a Volkswagen, but not the one from the movie. Most of the descriptions the brothers discussed matches what my friends told me. I do remember the apartment at the end was in a building on 6th street above a shop.

TIP NO 1 !!!! Go befriend a DENTIST or a surgeon like the Coen’s did & get them to finance YOUR VISION… (true story BTW) No 1 rule in film making … FIND ANYONE who’s CASHED up & will stand by you & help finance that story line & vision. The cast, the crew, the production, even the distribution & P&O, legal … all of it. It needs to be FINANCED. No money … NO FILM. Word from the wise to the passionate. GET THE CASH !!!! The rest will follow…. It’s just a process & it’s a business.

Caution indie filmmakers. The average indie film now has production value higher than Blood Simple. You need to beat the photography / story telling of A24.
