So I think my favorite way I've seen 40k deathgurad painted is to start with perfect white and gold 30k deathguard armor with the bright green should/knee pad, the turn them into 40k deathguard entirely with the weathering process. So in his case as a former sanguinary priest bright white and gold armor and red robes(probably with more of a faded pink highlight) then start filtering that with oils or enamels or just semi transparent acrylics so that the greenish brown tints the white and gold and filters the red into an almost black via optical color mixing and then go for more of a verdigris look on all the gold parts.

The one you've painted that looks like it started red but then is slowly turning green is pretty cool 😎

The 3rd paint scheme was my favorite, the red into green. They were Blood Angels.

Honesty I love what you're doing. I watch a ton of painting videos and i think you could be one of the most creative. Definitely think you can grow to be as big as a lot of the other wargaming channels!

Thank you! That is so encouraging to hear. I'm glad my little plastic spacemen can bring something to the table, and I'm happy to have you along for the ride! 😄

This definitely gives me motivation to kitbash some of my own Dornian Heresy Nurgle Blood Angels, I cant wait to see how you paint up that corrupted Sanguinary Priest! Also a few things I'd like to mention: 1. You could probably take one of those hollow plastic q-tips and cut them to shape to look like a syringe instead of Greenstuff for that previous head, I've used some of those same plastic q-tips for some of my Nurgle Raptors. 2. The mention of a "black grail" remind me abit of the Cult of the Black Grail from Trench Crusade since they got some demonic units that have abit of a mosquito/tick theme going on. 3. Incase if you ever get the chance to paint up your Nurgle-corrupted Sanguinary Priest, I'd look into both Trovarion and Flashing Badger's grimdark style Blood Angels since they had a similarly weathered look to yours, though with your Sanguinary Priest being Nurglite in nature, you could definitely have a few of the pot marks, bullet holes, and some recesses of the armor to have rust, filth, and even slime leaking out, just something to consider. My apologies for how overly long that was, I just wanted to get this out there and hopefully give you some stuff to take inspiration from

Ooh, those are all really good ideas! Especially the syringes I hadn't thought of that. 🤔 I'll definitely give that a shot!

A lot of the inspiration for my armies (all homebrew so far) comes from video games or music. I haven't started Death Guard yet, but I do want to at some point, but I've got a couple of different ideas that I wanted to work with. The first idea takes inspiration from Elden Ring, wanting to make a warband inspired by the scarlet rot and cleanrot knights. The struggle there is how to make all the gross bits look like rot and not blood, since they're similar reds. The other idea is inspired by the song How The Beautiful Decay by Lightworker, and my thinking was maybe a section of Emperor's Children that split off from the legion early and fell to Nurgle unwillingly. The idea of this legion that strives for perfection is rotting away feels so dramatic.

Very nice! Elden Ring is a huge inspiration for me, too. I'm planning on creating Caelid bases for my Death Guard, in fact!

Intro was lovely again, video very nice overall and last guy was my favorite, but a bit to much brown/rust. It was a pleasure as allways, thanks Mr. Hollow :) Ps. Allways wondert if you work a regular job? Because of how much time, care and love you put into minis and tabeltop :)

As always, I'm glad you enjoyed! (: I work a part time job right now, but I'm hoping to switch to content creation full time soon! (At least soon-ish. 😅)

I think the best choice would be to use rust. A LOT of rust. Firstly, it matches the colour scheme of the Blood Angels. Rust is a bit reddish, but not pure red, so it's not "red on red", but some contrast (The main thing here is not to play around with contrast too much and in no case to make a color scheme combining red and green; the art for the "Dornian Heresy" showed that this is a VERY bad idea). Secondly, rusty armour is something you'd expect from Plague Marines. And thirdly, it's just cool. Rust is very interesting to paint - both with "dirty down rust" and with two layers of drybrush (first - rusty brown, then - silver). And bright gold (which does not rust) can stand out nicely against the rust, if you suddenly want to add some of the gilded decorations that the Blood Angels love so much. Oh! And one more thing: I highly recommend using more Corvus helmets in future Angels of Chalice conversions. Beaked helmets will convey the overall "mosquito" vibe of the warband much better.

Ooh, great ideas! I definitely need to play with the red more, I'm just hesitant to go too hard on it since I have a TON of red blood angels already. 😅 Beakie helmets are also a really good call, I'll give them a shot!

hey man great vid think it removed my comment but i think i know a way to make the wings looking pretty good, its a bit too much to explain over text but i can make a vid showing you how. also great kitbash and lore writing made me rethink my own lore
@GoneHollowMinis8 күн бұрын
That would be great! I'd definitely love to hear how to improve on them. I've had a couple people mention deleted comments, I've probably got a setting turned on that I didn't mean to, that's my bad!

You shouldn't give up on those aprons, make them look as shitty as possible and paint them as rotting flesh.

The lore is a great idea and story. Kudos. One thing you could have done though is to make the armor more of a reddish color. They are Blood Angels after all and their armor though corrupted and pitted I think would still have a red decayed look to it. The army just looks like another Death Guard army.
@GoneHollowMinis8 күн бұрын
For sure! I'm still working on finding a balance between the warband's past and present. I paint a ton of blood angels, so I don't want to go too hard on the red (just for something different to paint 😅) but it definitely agree that it doesn't come through well enough now.
