Were can I go to find some of the data of for instance regarding the comment that testing did not change much from the mid 90's to the 2000nds, but that there was substantial growth in Autism in that time period. A nurse I am staying with here in New Zealand who lectures, and has been a nurse for over 30 years is saying to me that there is no increase in Autism, but that it is only the way it is now been diagnosed that has changed. How does one learn to trust studies when there is such difference of ideas floating around in the medical field. She is going by observation. How does one confirm by behavior the real increase in Autism in accurate research. There must be people gathering such shifts in the diagnosis of Autism, and how it matches the present increases. Her argument: If they put troubled children away in hidden from the public places in the past, I don't understand how I never heard of such activities as a person growing up. But even if this did happen, and I'm sure it did, it must be in the data of researches in a clear to read graph format. Showing that old treatments, and new still show increases in Autism today. She attests that all those children hidden away from the public were Autistic, ant misdiagnosed, Whereas, in todays world they such disturbed children are intergrated into different modalities of open to the public acknowledged diagnosis and treatment. I'm no researcher, but misdiagnosis would be the first things I would look for in the history of Autism in looking to count numbers. Am I missing something? It may be fair to say there can often be a distancing from people in research, and people such as nurses that are treating people. And that biases are formed perhaps with the notion that researches cook the books all the time , so to speak. But researching a drugs effectiveness, and researching behavior surely are worlds apart when it comes to faking information. Years ago we were told margarine was good. Now trans fatty acids are bad. Asbestos was good. Now its bad. Smoking was good. Now its bad. Arsenic was in clothing in Victorian Britain. But people and the poison they took still in there day could not fake their health. Could they? Its like when a shift happens in diagnosis, there seems to be mindsets that promotes the killer for some, or denial of the killer. Or somehow don't even acknowledge the killer needs to be addressed in any new way. I have even heard of medical records been hidden in drug moralities regarding vaccines. Science and medicine seems to be very divided in this present day. More so than 30 years ago possibly. And it seems to intensify when the people that have been in medicine for decades that decide to research independently from their formal education. that when they find contrary information that contradicts thei present thought in medicine. they soon become hounded by their very associates The name calling, and disregarding of people before they have even been heard is akin to strong prejudices of any kind. Yes perhaps that's it. The fear of the unknown causes the old school to trash the knew thought. The new thinkers in many ways become hounded by their own medical boards for sharing their discoveries. What a circus. I think I will stick to the building trade. A house is a house, is a house.

Unto the Lamb ex nurse here and agree 100%%%!!! Now they’ve diagnosed my grandson as being “on the spectrum” ...to me, he is a typical 6 year old boy who tends to be a brat! The parents only have only one child. Having said that, I am an only child, and was nothing but good. Having raised 2 boys and a girl, (all adults between 30 and 40), there was a huge difference in behavior between the boys and the girl; and my mother who was a teacher k-1, nailed the tag on my 2nd child as having “middle child syndrome”. In other words, a brat. He was. He is now a Correctional Officer at a State Prison! My grandson needs discipline and more of it. He is not antisocial, but tends to hit his peers, and kick the teacher when it doesn’t go his way. That is nothing that should be considered DSM- V Spectrum Disorder! It’s all bullshit!
