Bloodborne Kart: Campaign Mode Micolash Boss Fight WIP

Finally got the next boss fight finished, this time everyones' favorite: Micolash!
The fight goes through the same beats as the original, with a chase leading into an arena fight leading to another chase and another arena fight, but I added another phase at the end where the player actually gets to use the teleport mirrors to jump through an extended bridge track to finally take Micolash out and win the stage!
This boss fight stage rewards insight (which is needed to get past progression requirements in the campaign) based on how fast the player completes the level.
Also please ignore Micolash moaning at the end after he died, its a bug lol.

Micolash is unironically my favorite character in all of Bloodborne. For such a lore heavy character, he's so stupid and his fight is so goofy that this might as well just be canon. Praise Lilith, back at it again with another banger.

Got to love how in a game full of nightmarish lovecraftian horrors that cause insanity by their mere presence, one of the major bosses is just some random jobber with a funny hat who runs around and tries to karate chop a blood-soaked hunter of beasts of alien horrors (well, before he then pulls out cosmic lasers and tentacle hentai slaps).

I was going to say "it's funny how there's actually a FROMSoft boss that can be directly lifted into a kart racer and still work exactly like in the original game", then I realized all the Souls games has a racing boss: Gwyndolin, Executioner's Chariot and whatever the Archdragon Peak miniboss was called. Bloodborne Kart really always was the end goal, wasn't it.

I was hoping that Micolash would just run like heck from the Hunter on a motorbike, and I was not disappointed. The carriage behind Micolash at the beginning before he legged it was a clever little fake-out.

The best part of this whole thing is how the story beats seem to still be the same as it is in base game. So you have characters saying their lines in the usual soulsborne voice direction of "somber whimsical whispering" while they're burning rubber and plowing through opponents and monsters. The high octane zany renditions of the soundtrack adds to the contrast. It's a beautiful cacophony of tone and I'm all here for it!

This seems like a really cool fight. I like the idea of a racing game boss - already a novelty - where you’re not racing the boss on a track, but instead chasing them in a maze. More racing games should have creative scenarios like that, I say!

this is absolutely amazing, but the closed-room fights could use work, mainly in the aspect of being able to avoid hits. my suggestion would be to go with what Turbo Overkill did(before they RUINED the bike level, anyways, *T H A N K S M A Y O)* and have campaign mode in this game let you do an akira slide with s as a substitute for a dodge roll

My thought was that the rooms could be made slightly bigger to allow the player to move around more easily and keep their camara straight, and micolashes location could be made *slightly* clearer. Though you do have rally to make up a little for it being sometimes hard to see and avoid hits

Oh that is a nostalgic throw back, I never actually managed to beat that game, didn’t have a memory card to save, besides I was always too scared of that one level where your chased by the ghost block to continue. But those racing levels in the labs were so fun.

I was still trying to get used to the concept of videos games actually having more to do and that they do go on and on to a certain point. You could say not having a memory card was practice for speed running games. I was amazed at how I could play games like Spyro in my sleep :)
