Bloodborne - The board game - Learn as you play chapter 2 Solo - A Win!

A detailed successful Solo walkthrough of "The long hunt", second chapter of Bloodborne - The Board Game. With a focus on trying to teach the rules and help people learn to play the game. A bit more rushed than normal, but still taking time to explain of why I'm doing the moves I choose to do. A learning aid for those new to the game who are interesting in it's content, miniatures and game mechanics. How to play Bloodborne the board game. Enjoy.
I really think this time I may not have missed much at all, but I'm sure some of you might spot some I've missed. Here are the ones I noticed:
22 mins I forgot to draw a card.
26 mins I forgot to heal 1, draw 1 after the kill.
34 mins I forgot to draw 1.
41 mins I forgot to move the beast one away.
None of the above helped me in anyway, they actuall hindered, so I'm happy this was a fair win.

I think the Brick Stun at 21:20 means A) you don't discard 1 card and suffer both consequences (-2 speed to your attack and cannot dodge) or B) discard 1 card and don't suffer them. Since you only had one card in hand, you could discard it, but that would still leave you without being able to dodge. However, I do think the must wording in that Ability should be followed (similar to Stun status which is a must discard if you have a card in hand), whatever you're doing or nothing doing. 42:00, yes, causing a Phase 1 to Phase 2 change does not cancel or alter an already flipped boss action card's resolution, it will resolve that Phase 1 action normally (confirmed by designer). I'll catch the last few minutes later.

I think you are right about the two effects being linked to the discarding of a card. So in effect, if I'd had two cards left (one with dodge say) I could have discarded the non-dodge card and then I COULD still dodge the next action. As you say it makes no difference to this particular play through as I had only the one card and so the outcome is the same. Re the "must" on this card I would say the use of "or" allows you the freedom to choose. This is different to "Stun" which says the hunter must discard 1 card. If they can't (ie don't have a card) they suffer 1 damage. There is no "or" in that instruction. At the end of the day I don't think it will have much bearing on the game outcomes, but I prefer to have the choice implied by the "or" statement. I feel it's more on me to take the damage or not. Thanks again for your comments, really useful to me and I hope others that may watch.

@@learnwiththedoc While the wording is no identical, there is another issue to consider. Namely that the rules do already give us a way to resolve multiple choice options, under the "Intelligenct and Cruel" rule (p. 24), which state: "There may be times when a game effect would allow a choice to be made in how it is resolved. In these situations, where there are multiple ways that effect could resolve, the players should always pick the resolution that would be the worst possible outcome for the players." That would seem to go directly against your feeling of whether you want to take damage or not and how that should be up to the player, as damage I would argue is the worst possible outcome.

@@DamtheMan50 I get what you're saying, but, by choosing to take the damage now you may avoid even more damage on the turn of the next card, or not. I see this as a gamble, you have no way of knowing if taking the damage now, or handing in the card will help, as you don't know what the next card will be. So I think the "or" is a genuine choice, not a decission between a better or worse. But as I said before, this type of choice is very rare and I don't think there is an advantage to the player either way. I just like the chance to take the gamble...happy to agree to disagree on this one.

Definatelly. I already have the last chapter of the first campaign filmed. I'm just struggling a bit with time to edit. Sorting out my work for the next couple of years. I plan to do some editing this weekend, so could be up early next week. Glad you're keen to see more.

I always get down P1 of the Cleric Beast but I never have enough time to lure him to the Tomb of Oedon. Chapter 2 seems rubbish in Solo. Had no problem whatsoever in Chapter 1 and 3. I don’t even know what to do they just broke Chapter 2 for Solo Players I guess. Like I guess you can do the shortest missions but then “Do I have to do specific missions (therefore miss out on others - replayability???) and plan everything so that I can complete Chapter 2 playing Solo???” My last idea is playing Solo but with 2 Hunters, I might have to try that.

I noticed that a lot of people are playing solo with two hunters and I do think that might be the way to go. I had to play Chapter 2 many times to finally get through it and I admit that by the time I finally did, I was sick of that chapter. I play so rarely, especially for the last few months that I don't think this will be a major issue for me, as I still have all the expansions and other chapters/stories to get through. I know some people play differently, giving them selves more time, but only allowing one or two returns to the dream and find that more satisfying. So maybe that is the way to go. At the end of the day the idea is to enjoy the game, but still find it a challenge, so rather than leave it on the shelf I'd try some of those options.

I agree with you, just need to find out how I wanna play it because I recently bought the All-In-Pledge on EBay and I wanna enjoy all the content i got^^ Good news though is that I got a legit Solo Run today for Chapter 2 The Long Hunt after thinking about everything for 3 hours straight. I did the Ominous Warnings Insight Mission (Great Bridge) with the Huntsman’s Minion and the Price of Weakness Insight Mission (Odeon Chapel) with the Female Beast Patient as I thought those will be the fastest missions. Died during Huntsman’s Minion though cause drew legit 0 Dodge Cards so rip. In the end after having 3 Recovery Damage Blocks in P1 Cleric Beast I managed to kite it over during the 2nd Last Hunt Track Space with 1 Card left. Do you know how the Cleric Beast’s Recovery Ability works? It says Shuffle the Cleric Beast Action Deck. Do you include the Recovery Card though when shuffling because I did and got another Recovery next Boss Attack which meant he blocked my Damage back to back lol.

@@maximusmagic3793 I treat it as shuffling it back into the deck, as it forms part of the deck and there's nothing anywhere saying to take it out. Really happy for you that you got through the chapter finally. I must play some more and film some more. Good luck with the next chapter.
