This movie and Kickboxer are the main reason why I started doing martial arts. It had a huge influence on me. Around that time there were a lot of martial arts movies coming out, which was really cool. Ofcourse not all of them were good, but what a great era to grow up in!
@Skyknight12 Жыл бұрын
And let me guess. All of those movies involved white guys learning to do martial arts better than the Asians who invented and practiced them for centuries. Now where have we seen this before? Oh yeah, that's basically the script of every martial arts movie made in Hollywood.
@KiLLaB070 Жыл бұрын
@@Skyknight12 Good guess, but you're wrong lol. I don't judge people by their nationality or skin color. Like Bruce Lee said (who isn't white): Under the sky there is but one family, it's just so that people are different. I train with all sorts of different people from different cultures and we get along real good. Maybe you should try to look at what we have in common as people instead of what the differences are. Have a good one.
@Skyknight12 Жыл бұрын
@@KiLLaB070 Funny that you should bring up Bruce Lee. Did you know that Bruce Lee, a literal Chinese martial arts expert, lost the role of a Shaolin monk to David Carradine - a white guy who at that time had no knowledge of martial arts? And don't get me started on Iron Fist. This basically is how Hollywood treats Asians and always has. I didn't say that you judge people by their race but the films that you speak so glowingly about that the people who wrote them and made money off of them do just that. So much for that one family under the sky, eh?
@gonzalo20000 Жыл бұрын
@@Skyknight12 And who the fuck cares? It is not as if those Asians are invincible with their martial arts, the fact is that oriental martial arts have been highly overrated by Hollywood, making them very "cool" when in real life it is not so, and it is not that effective against western or MMA boxers. You also seem like the typical Woke with all his hatred towards "white". You are that typical toxic person of internet, who only seeks hate and fight.

Yep, Frank Dux's attempt to cash in on the movie by opening a chain of dojos. Actually, the sheriff was really good and taught realistic and functional self defense. All about how to avoid getting hurt in a fight. Running was totally an option taught. But then Dux showed up one night I missed and told the sheriff the black belt test was to send the students out to downtown LA and have them pick fights. The sheriff didn't like that one bit and the dojo closed not too long after that. I didn't learn for certain what a fake Dux was until many years later. Kino tarixinin ən gəzəl döyüş səhnələrindən biri .Mükəmməl sountrack döyüşü daha da drammatikləşdirirdi. Belə bir filmi izlədiyimizə görə ,Təşəkkürlər Van Damm,Təşəkkürlər Bolo Yong.

The part where he starts doing the wheel kicks in succession with the music in the background (7:43 - 7:54) is so epic. I'm still getting goosebumps from that almost 35 years later.

the way van dam would yell i think that inspired the whole dragon ball z power up yell at the top of your lungs thing which is subjective but to me its so dope
@trajic92042 жыл бұрын
@@area51ville I could see that, though a lot of old martials films have a lot of yelling, nice name btw, since Johhny Cage was inspired by this movie, (as I'm sure you know.)
