Mary honestly upsets me a lot. She wanted to be so much like her mother and make her proud. She also wanted to protect Elizabeth and cared for her but as she got older she became paranoid and delusional and gained the name of Bloody Mary. She always hated her father too because of him not caring for his children and having so many women in his life which psychologically destroyed and Elizabeth. The woman who weren’t their mothers weren’t kind to them and mistreated them from what records say. Elizabeth was just like Mary wanting to be like her mother too. Though neither of their mothers were saints. Edit: I know I got things wrong, if you want to see what I got wrong and see the corrections, check the comments. I just haven’t replied to anyone as this is 11 months old

Eponas I don’t think that’s true Anna of Cleves was said to love and really care about all the kids like she left them all stuff when she died and helped Mary take the throne back from Lady Jane Grey after Edward died and Parr worked tirelessly to have them placed back into the line succession and to spend time with their dad and had them brought back to court. Also when Anna died Marie made sure she was buried in Westminster Abby like none of the other wives of King Henry eighth are buried there and Henry isn’t even buried there.

@cavalcade1174 жыл бұрын
@@rudejellybean5035 We have decent evidence that Mary didn't actually want Elizabeth executed. Her advisors certainly did, though. While it's true Mary was wary of Elizabeth (which makes sense: Mary was Catholic and female at a time in England where neither one was easy) she also helped raise Elizabeth from infancy. The two seem to have been pretty close all things considered. So I guess the short answer is that yeah she probably intentionally "forgot" to have Elizabeth arrested again.

3:15 Not sure if this was intentional, but I love this frame because it perfectly mirrors 2:15 in "I'm Still Standing (Elizabeth I animatic)" Lizzy bursts through the door into her courtroom, greeting her court and claiming her rightful place with pride, remembering her mother and forgetting her father. Mary bursts through the door to Liz's cell, looking insane with blood coloured tears in her eyes. She then walks to her balcony to see the burning pries of the condemned protestants. In a way, it's sort of how these queen's are remembered. Good Queen Bess and Bloody Mary. Do they deserve those titles? Somewhat, yes. But neither Queen was purely good or bad. Leave it to history to paint them as one thing. Just as it does with Henry's six wives.

It's interesting how different Mary and Elizabeth reacted to their father's marriages. Mary became passionate to achieve what her father could not: a happy family life. She was desperate to have a happy marriage with Philip and was blind to see how indifferent he was to her. She was so desperate to have a child to raise right that she had two phantom pregnancies. Elizabeth lost all faith in the concept of marriage and refused to ever take a husband. Her mother, aunt, stepmother and half-sister all suffered from their marriages and she took it as a sign.
@TamaraMićunović-n2w2 ай бұрын
I KNOW! A huge difference between Mary and Henry is that Mary was obsessed with the idea of marriage and family, happiness and love that she hardly ever got. Henry was obsessed with his sons. Mary didn't care about the gender of the child, because she didn't want to single them out, because she was singled out because of her gender. I honestly think she was aware of his lack of interest in her, and it must have been difficult for her because she had been through that with her father before. Philip II was an asshole for not loving her and having affairs.

3:19 and 3:24 I really like these two frames, it shows how deeply Mary’s caved into insanity. For so much of the animatic you don’t see anyone else’s eyes except hers, and her physical changes are gradual. Her hair gets messy, her cross on her eye gets smudged, her eyes go red, and blood starts to come down her face. It isn’t until you see Elizabeth, and you compare her to Mary do you realize how terrifying Mary looks.

Hey even if this animatic wasn't how you wanted it it's still pretty great, you got 'em madness feels, scary feels, dark feels in general, and sad feels I mean that part at the end with Catherine that broke my heart! So here’s an idea for a Tudor kids/ others musical: it would be Mary, Elizabeth, Edward, Lady Jane Grey, Mary Queen of Scots and Mary Boleyn. I can imagine Janes would be kinda indie sounding maybe because from what I understand she was a quiet nerd. Then Mary queen of scots would be a power ballad ala heart of stone but with anger and death. Maybe even a duet with Elizabeth???? Then for Mary Boleyn something very romantic sounding but with commentary on how she was treated vs her sister and there would be drama there,,,, sorry to write a dissertation but this has been bouncing around my head for a while :) Edit: thanks for so many likes! I was just thinking about jane grey and my idea for her queenspiration is Florence Welch! For Mary Queen of Scots maybe MARINA, electra heart era. OR Billie Eilish :). Finally for Mary Boleyn I was thinking someone but thoughtful and romantic like Tessa Violet or dodie? I do not think she was a monster, for in that case every ruler of England had blood on his hands and was a monster, including the great Elizabeth I. Their brother Edward executed MORE subjects than Mary during his reign, and, although regents ruled, he approves and listens to them in everything. To be fair, Henry is the worst, and a beast.

@blur1582 Жыл бұрын
I still think Mary's life is much worse though. Elizabeth only remember a few moments with her mother, she will not miss her that much since she was just a baby when Anne got executed. Unlike Mary who lived almost a perfect life then all of a sudden her father wanted to divorce her mother and was old enough to witness all of her stepmothers' tragic end. That's why her religion and God is the only thing that she can hold on to survive, but sadly it's one of the things that lead her to her downfall as a Queen. But this is just my opinion.

Honestly the song makes _way_ more sense this way. Supposedly the song is about the Mary who followed Jesus and her loyalty to him... but the song sounds way too sinister for it. The slow, dissonant singing, the husky deep voice, the distortion effects, the snarls... especially the distortion effects and snarls. The choices seem so bizarre for a song like that, and I have to wonder what they were thinking. The only way I can remotely see it all making sense is if it were a yandere song, to use an anime term. But here, applying it to the actual Bloody Mary, it fits so well. It’s still about loyalty to Jesus, but also manages to twist it so it’s sinister and tragic. Wonderful. I haven’t watched Six, but being a bit of a history buff, I love this.
@applenapoleon13294 жыл бұрын
I absolutely adore the outfits you've come up with for the Six Kids - like the musical's costumes, they have definite Tudor inspiration, while being very much something you wouldn't be surprised to see on a modern day pop diva. Mary's is absolutely gorgeous - the cross over her eye is stunning. I love how expressive your style is, as everything is so beautifully timed to the song. That first scream, with the Virgin Mary's delicate tears instead turning into something out of Silent Hill? INTO IT. Though I think my favourite shot is Mary from behind as she walks to the door, her hair coming loose from its bun. I just love how you've drawn her hair in that shot! I really hope that you continue with this series - it's so great, using Six as a basis to interrogate how we view the other well-known Tudor monarchs. (Like, Mary I did do a lot of terrible shit, but she was also a woman in a lot of pain, and I think your animatic does a good job of showing that! Same with Elizabeth I, that she faced a lot of trials but ultimately triumphed!) What song do you have planned for little Edward? (Also side note: as mentioned, I LOVE LOVE LOVE your designs, but if I may make a suggestion: maybe put Edward in shorts? To accentuate his boyishness). I feel that a song about how he tries to be perfect, but if he steps wrong he knows he's doomed - or, maybe just "I'm Not Okay" by My Chemical Romance. Boy had a rubbish life, what can I say. Thank you for uploading these, and looking forward to more! ❤️ sorry about the wall of text uh

Her life is just so tragic. First her mother is replaced. Then they tell her to accept that her parents' marriage was illegitimate. When she doesn't she is sent away. She loses her title as princess and is now a bastard. Then she is forced to become the maid of her younger step-sister. Well suprisingly she actually loves her when they are little. Then she spends years in the hell she is. Cannot see her mother once including her death. She is all alone. No one wants to marry her without her title and power. Her father does not allow her to marry for love either. Then Catherine Parr comes and brings her back to the family palace. Approximately 10-15 years later. Then when she becomes queen she thinks she can finally be happy. Nope. England is far from the Catholic country she remember that it was. Everything is different. She decides to marry so she won't be alone and will have an heir to the throne. But her husband Phillip does not love her and everytime he things that he got her pregnant and "done his duty" he goes back to Spain and leaves her alone. (This is actually really interesting. Catherine of Aragon's sister Queen Juana also had a husband named Phillip who did not love her and actually left her to go to a foreign country and spend time here when she was pregnant. History repeats itself huh?) But both of these pregnancies turns out to be phantom pregnancies. They wait and wait but there is no baby. And people at court whisper around about her being delusional. All throughout her life she suffers from several illness symptoms like insomnia, headaches, swelling in the stomach etc. And then she slowly goes insane. And burns protestants. The gets the nickname "Bloody" despite her father killing as much people she killed in 5 years in one single event and her sister imprisoning her cousin for 20 years and then executing her. Life did not do her any good. Only if Henry just accepted her as the heir and raised her to become queen with Catherine she could be a brilliant monarch.

It amuses me more, that the fact the song, and the imagery is all following to Mary Tudor’s life. I also like the fact that you made Mary seem insane, when she was technically because of her misfortune, and bad luck on getting what she wants. 2:14-2:27 also supports these things because, *History fact:* She blamed Henry the IIIV (and Anne Boleyn) for all the misfortune in her life) P.S: This was amazing! I kept watching it over and over again, it just made me want to point out the relations that you put in from Mary Tudors life to the animation, it was quite accurate, I just commented the things that made me interested in this animation.
