I think this is the most mature moral we've had in a while. I ESPECIALLY love the part where AppleBloom says "I must be the only pony in the universe worried about my cutie mark." I think it's a pretty common problem for people to think that they're being weak or stupid, because they don't think anyone shares their fears. It's a good thing for kids to learn that their anxieties are shared ones before they internalize too much.
@hyenaedits34609 жыл бұрын
Nicholas Moore Some parts of the episode reminded me of middle school when all the girls were getting their periods and wearing bras and talking about how now they're real women, and the late bloomers (I walked right into that one) were worried that they would be laughed at and how they must be the only ones in the world with those problems. I'd rather get a cutie mark than a period.

I didn't think it was Luna causing the nightmares at first; I actually thought Starlight Glimmer was the culprit, all this talk of removing cutie marks, the eerie voice, and the occasional way in which the shadow looked like a unicorn had me convinced she had somehow found a way into Apple Bloom's mind. While that theory was quickly debunked, I still wonder if there could be a connection between the CMC, the Mane Six and Starlight Glimmer.

@HumanAfterAll1239 жыл бұрын
Hmm you know.... In some twisted way I think AB would be an easy target for Starlight to manipulate, sorta like what Tirek did with discord, of course starlight's proposal would be that AB would be helping her make the world a better place, a world where all are equal. Because she's a child i feel like she wouldn't see the full consequences until it was almost too late. Idk what do you guys think? Sweetie Belle & Scootaloo could fall for it too
@Verdgilion9 жыл бұрын
Appearance of Diamond and Silver was a very impotant addition to AB's dream: that, and only that showed a fear of "unpopular" or "uninteresting" cutie mark. Which is reasonable and adds another touch to whole situation and adds more complexity. Also, it helps build up whole atmosfere of nightmare. With that in mind it didn't bother me in the slightest. It may sound wrong, but I enjoyed it, because it was so spot on. I completely don't understand why, in your opinion, conversations of CMC didn't add anything new - whole point of their conversations this time is: "what will happen after we get ours cutie marks?" (usually it's only "when we get our cutie marks?"), because of reaction to news about Babs's "scissors" cutie mark and her questionable position as CMC because of that. Shadow of AB and Luna's appearance is my favorite parts of this whole episode, I remember how chat tried to quess who is that shadow - "it's Luna", "it's Starlight Glimmer", but nobody, including myself didn't quessed right. :) Also, I like how it was explained why Luna didn't came to rescue AB sooner - "It was busy night for all of us". It was my favorite episode in this season so far, very entertaining and very well done overall, it's sad we are not on the same page here, Dr. Wolf. For me, whole trilogy "CMC and Luna" is golden :)

I think you summed it up pretty well. I respect this episode more than I enjoy it. The way it tells its moral is really cleverly executed, and some of the "cliched dialogue" does make sense since the majority of the episode is inside Apple Bloom's nightmare. The humor was hit or miss for me, but some people may find it more funny than I did. I think the biggest highlight for me was getting to hear what was up with Babs. I was waiting so long to see more of her, because anyone who causes humiliation to Diamond Tiara is automatically awesome to me, and this acknowledgement from the staff that she still exists makes me happy. (Here's hoping she makes an appearance in a later episode of Season 5.)

While I enjoyed the episode, I do feel there was one very big missed opportunity when if came to Babs Seed and potentially other ponies who were members of the CMC. Sure, she got her cutiemark but why should that mean the pony can't be a member of the CMC anymore? Would it not make sense for members who have gained their cutiemark to take on a more advisory role and help others get their cutiemark? The idea of maybe two ranks, one where you have a pony seeking out their cutiemark and another in which the pony has gained their cutiemark but is helping others to get there.

@JonathonWilder9 жыл бұрын
DeathGodRiku Yes, but consider for a moment the benefit it would be to have former blank flank members of the CMC continue to help their friends seek out their cutiemarks. Admittingly... their purpose would be made a whole lot easier if somepony would properly explain to how cutiemarks work and perhaps offer suggestions that point to the fact we as the viewers know exactly what their special talents are.

DeathGodRiku I admit my disappointment is partly because I saw the basic idea I have explained above in the fanfiction Past Sins by Pen Stroke, of having foals with cutiemarks allowed the chance of being honorary members CMC to help others get their own. It was a good idea I feel, and I wish it would have been used here because it would have strengthened the episode I feel... but perhaps in a later episode this idea can come up. Because really, I do think the CMC are smart enough to real it is silly to kick somepony out of the club just because they get their cutiemark when they could instead help others get theirs. Hee... but those are just my thoughts. ^^;

I really liked the episode, Apple Bloom's fears about finally getting her cutie mark felt relatable, when you work really hard towards and look forward to something, there's always the fear if/when it actually happens it's not what you hoped for or lives up to your expectations, there's also the fear of change that comes with the new situation and how other people will react and treat you as a result. I liked Luna's role in these dream episodes with the CMC again, I like the way she's able to calm and reassure the CMC whilst helping them to overcome their fears and teaching them the morals of the situation. I really like seeing this kind and caring side of Luna's personality.

This episode really hits close to home for me. When all my friends in High school were talking about which colleges had accepted them or which Job Corps program they were going to, it stressed me out SO much that I would lose all my friends because I was the only one who still didn't exactly know what to do with my life. I was worried that we would all show up to our 10 year reunion and I'd be the only one without exciting stories to tell about my career from the past ten years. Or that my family would hate what I chose for as a career. It was then my friends encouraged me to work towards becoming an analyst for NASCAR and/or voice acting. It opened up a whole new world for me to explore and I'm getting closer every day in a broadcasting career. That's why I really enjoyed this episode because my life became pretty miserable when I kept stressing put over not knowing what I wanted to do.

I think of this episode much the way you do Doc. Something I personally found interesting was the exploration of the dreamscape. It's probably because I'm a southerner that I noticed this, but the part of Applejack's Lullaby "A cutie mark wont change you no matter what you get" had the exact same melody of another song called the yellow rose of Texas. I've avoided reading the synopsis of the episodes but I cant help but wonder if they're going to tie this season together around Cutie Marks. One idea in particular that I had and discussed with my friends was when Starlight returns, the CMC might end up being the ones to take her down. Assuming she strikes quickly most if not all ponies would have their marks removed, but with the CMC not having marks there's nothing to replace.

I loved the moral, with me going to high school and worrying that I might lose friends because of my academy choice. At my school, you have to chose and academy like drama, fashion, or agriculture. I know that when you choose one that people in the same academy will be with you for a long time and it worried me. All of my close friends will not be in the same classes as me, and this made me feel that it won't change with our strong connection. I give it a 10/10.

With all three of the CMC having had their Luna dreams and with Babs seed getting her mark (love how the handle is apple shaped) I think we will see them get their marks this season. Keeping them as plank flanks presents a problem as the voice actress for the girls are getting older thus their voices are changing and you can only string the CMC along for so long before you start going in a circle. Also I'm think if they get their cutie marks this season expect them to be aged up next season. One last thing.... Real Fact: Apples don't have cores, you can eat the whole thing.

@kchurch91029 жыл бұрын
Perhaps one interesting point to note on the concept of acceptance or rejection of oneself can be seen during the background of the third dream sequence. Still scenes from past episodes of Applebloom with her face cut out. All of them were pictures with her family IIRC. Given that it was caused by her own influence within her dream, it was a rather dark note to consider how'd she perceive herself and by her family in such a scenario as to remove any trace of her in family photos. I also do appreciate how Luna is incorporated in these CMC dream episodes as a mentor who can personally relate to the troubles of the children. In this episode's case where Applebloom had fears and doubts about possible negative consequences of a cutie mark and how'd she view herself, I'm sure Luna had the same internal struggles over a millennium ago. To feel that your talent, the gift of the night, was unappreciated and perhaps even unwanted, I imagine Luna had her own feelings of low self-worth and had difficulty coming to terms with them. It feels easy to be weighed down by your own shadow and even more difficult to face oneself. But a shadow is still a part of you and with acceptance, the future becomes much brighter. All in all, a solid episode and a satisfying conclusion to the CMC dream episodes.

In Luna Eclipsed, Luna really enjoyed letting out her inner Rarity... but now I think that Tabitha has gotten better at sounding like Luna without becoming rarity-y. I'm also waiting on results of a review that will determine whether or not I will get into the program I want to study. I'm sitting on the cusp of future possibilities and don't know what will come of it, and I think that's why I related to Applebloom so much. Which is also why Applejack's lullaby struck a chord with me. It reminded me that though this is an important time in my life, it's by no means going to be the last say in what my life will become. Plus, seeing Luna smirk at that honking gavel stand was one of my favorite moments. I wonder if she changed it so it would sound that way? Who knows? Long paragraph done, liked the episode a lot.

There is one thing i didn't like in this episode and it was what happened to Babs Seed. Her getting her cutie mark means we're probably not going to see her again, which is a shame, i really don't think we should throw characters away like that. The second thing was how the CMC kinda just dropped her. I realize by the end of the episode they redeem themselves and say they'll send her a care package but i still didn't like the talk of "well now she's not in the CMC anymore". I understand she has her cutie mark but i would like to think you'd still be in the CMC regardless to help others find their own.

About Applejack's Lullaby, I literally was thinking the same thing about it summing up the lesson as I first watched it while posting about it on MLP Forums. I heard Applejack's VA Ashleigh Ball made up that song and the showmakers decided to throw it in; That's a sweet idea. I personally see the episode as reassuring me that no matter what the future holds, my family and friends will still love me. When that shadowy voice first spoke and removed Apple Bloom's pest pony cutie mark, I first thought, "Starlight Glimmer's back already?" Thankfully, it wasn't.

Here's what I found really intriguing about this episode: The voice which told Apple Bloom to get rid of her cutie mark, and that cutie marks were trouble. Think about it, the story of her being a pest controller could have ended after she realized she didn't enjoy it, and the story of the other CMC saying they couldn't be friends anymore could also have ended with that. But they continued both times to have Apple Bloom find a mysterious voice telling her to get rid of her cutie mark, even though this didn't really advance the plot or make the dreams any more disturbing. I know it;s a long shot, but I wonder if Starlight Glimmer had some magical input in into Apple Blooms thoughts?

I grew up watching "Monkey Magic" so I recognised the dark figure as a "demon", an external representation of an internal struggle. I like the sort of easter egg with Big Mac taking more lines when Apple Bloom is kicked out of the family. Last time him and AJ swapped the talkative and quite sibling roles was when they were disappointed in AB over how she behaved in Ponyville Confidential so I suspect that it might be something that happens only when AB really screws up badly. If that is indeed the case it makes that sequence as scary as it funny because it means that in AB's mind she has failed them by getting the mark she did.

I feel pretty much the same way about this episode. Currently, I am at a point in my life when I have the same problem. Choosing a path for myself, deciding what it is I really would like to do with my life and thinking about if everything I have done so far is taking me somewhere I want to go. The moral is something I can relate to very well and I respect the episdoe for raising these questions and handling them the way it did. However, the episode itself seemed regrettably formulaic to me. Apple Bloom has worries and states them openly, AJ comforts her, Apple Bloom dreams about those very same worries nonetheless. I know thoughts like that don't go away overnight (ha!) and she is a child after all, so telling her everything will be fine certainly won't work immediately. And at the end, the moral and all the things you could do to relieve youself or others of their worries are stated too openly for my taste as well. Yeah, great conflict, mature handling, but somewhat uninspired epsiode.

Seeing as the three of them were brought together in the dreamscape (by the way, love Scootaloo's reaction to finding that out and just flying about because she can) to learn the lesson together, I hope they stop with the whole run-around of "gotta get my mark" and just start being themselves and enjoying themselves and finally put to bed the whole trying to be something their not. I'm also still hoping they'll all get their marks by season's end.

I really like this episode, the moral and delema was very relatable to many young adults trying to figure out WHAT it is that they wanna do in their life for a career rather than just a job. What I also found interesting was that when we saw Sweetie Belle's and Scootaloo's dreams near the end we saw them attempting things that many fans have already determined as their special talents. Sweetie Belle was about to sing on a stage before a pannel of judges, Vinyl, Octavia and Rarity, each who have their own form of musical talent. And Scootaloo was about to perform a daredevil stunt on her scooter. This basically shows that subconciously they do know what their special talents are, but subconciously they haven't figured it out. As for what I REALLY liked, it was definitly Applejack and her sweet little lullaby that she sang to Apple Bloom. It definitly shows a more nutering and motherly side to Applejack, far from the overprotectiveness that we got in somepony to watch over me.

I liked this episode, even tho I missed most of it. While the first dream and DT and Silver Spoons dialogue was a bit of a trite detail to me, the second and third dream sequences were more than enough to make the episode not only funny, but also memorable and enjoyable to see and behold. AJ's mini-song was lovely in every aspect of the word, and I would love to hear a longer version of it. The lesson to me is nothing thats really relatable to me at this moment of time, but I do see where it is coming from, and I enjoy the attempt that they put out for. This definitely goes into the "Hard" category in that it is a little hard to watch, but that's only because it's presenting some pretty difficult questions. This isn't a episode I go and watch for fun but it is a very interesting episode. Does this lesson relate to me...Absolutely. I understand fear and anxiety and how it feels to be trapped in a nightmare very well and I think someone on the MLP staff does as well. They do a very good job of showing how to actually deal with these issues rather than the typical "I'm not afraid of you!" response that most shows present. That's not dealing with the situation just pushing it aside and pretending it's not there. Here Luna is trying to show Apple Bloom what her real problem is, understand it and how to deal with it. I intend to make another video on just Luna and the dreamworld for this episode but here's a link to my first one if you're interested. kzbin.info/www/bejne/b4rYfmxvq8d8h68 But I think in short Luna was much more direct in this video and more like the supervising adult, but I think I may need to think about this some more first. Generally I think Luna's previous episodes were a little more personal but she was still really good as a mentor in this episode and perhaps once again revealed to us just a little of her character. Anyway I really did enjoy this episode and what it was trying to do and it was really awesome to see Princess Luna being a mentor again. Not to mention to have some of these questions answered. I never thought the voice talking to applebloom in the woods was Luna especially when the voice seem to have the ability to make her cutie Mark disappear, instead for a brief moment I thought maybe this was something darker and may actually be a being that taught starlight glimmer how to remove cutie marks

When DT and SS were pestering Apple Bloom, I kept thinking she could just have said, "Do you want me to open this glass jar right now?" [AB] "I'm sure you'll change your attitude and be begging for my help to deal with that twitter mite infestation at you house." [DT] "My house isn't infested with twitter mites." [AB] "Give it an hour..."

One thing I really like is that the way Luna moves feels majestic in some way. Past the first season, Celestia started to have a regal and impressive pose and movement to her, but Luna's movement seemed very down to earth and uninteresting, like just another run of the mill pony. But in this episode I get a similar impression seeing her as I do seeing Celestia.

I absolutely loved this episode (more so than magical mystery cure and twilight's kingdom) and sense i'm about ready to "leave the nest" it helped remind me to carry myself high and not let anyone thoughts bring me down if they think bad of me. The only thing i didnt really like was the repetativeness of applebloom waking up and going down for breakfast only for aj to say what she said the last time. It took till the third time it happened to make me realize applebloom was dreaming all of it up. And as for the voice in the shadows i thought it was starlight.

I enjoyed this episode though not as much as the previous three episodes. While I definitely liked the moral and how it was presented, I also kinda wish that the voice in the nightmare forest would have turned out to be Starlight Glimmer. A lot of what the shadow was saying sounded an awful lot like something she would have said. And how creepy and unnerving would it have been to discover that Starlight has the ability to invade ponies' dreams and infect them with negative opinions about cutie marks? If Starlight is involved with an arc this season, this would have been a great continuation of it. Oh well. Still, I liked the episode and I think it acted as a fitting conclusion to the CMC/Luna trilogy. In other points, I hope we see Babs again. Maybe she'll reappear in an episode where one of the CMC gets their cutie mark (probably Apple Bloom). Also, doesn't anyone else notice that this is the first time we've seen a royal princess (aside from Twilight) this season? And, to add to that, Luna made her season 5 debut before Celestia!

I personally liked this episode and how maturely it took it's message of loving and accepting who you are. I was also a bit puzzled as to whether or not it was Luna who was saying all those things to Apple Bloom. I was actually surprised like other people who watched it to learn that it was herself saying those things. I really laughed with Pinkie Pie's Easter Egg and loved Applejack's song to her sister.

I think you may want to make a followup on this Dr. Wolf. Because there's an even deeper meaning to this episode than so far anyone's noticed. Babs got the Scissors cutie mark. In Friends Forever Vol 13, Babs confessed to Rarity that she's AFRAID OF STYLISTS! She got a cutie mark of something she's afraid of. Essentially this entire episode is every example of what happens if something goes wrong with getting your cutie mark, including getting something you're good at that you don't want to do. I think this is a much deeper message here, and I'd like to discuss it with you if you have time.

Speaking in terms of DT and SS's appearance in this episode, at first I was thinking, 'DT from what I've heard is supposed to get development in this season, but this is not a good way to start it,' but since it took place in a dream, I'll let it slide. Hopefully next time DT shows up, we'll get at least SOME form of development or maybe a DT centered episode in the future.

Regarding the moral of the episode: It reminded me of an old saying I used to hear often, and is probably still around today. "People can try to put you down; but only you can let them." So, in a sense, we all have the power to provide our worst fears with substance and make them seem more damaging than they ought to be. What abut you, Dr. Wolf? Did this episode remind you of anything, like an adage?

This episode was pretty good. I don't think it was that cliché. Like you said, it's what Applebloom's mind would be thinking, yet I don't think it would be distracting to others. And right after I put my review up, I find your video up. Nice...Also, Big Mac talking makes him best pony.

This episode should have been called David Lynch's Inception. I love the parts where Pinkie Pie is crowing like a rooster and the Apple family were swapping voices. For a moment I thought Applebloom's Shadow was Starlight Glimmer

I can tell how much more competent the writing for Season 5 is. Each episode surprised me; Cutie Map surprised me because the main 6 didn't end up saving the day, Castle Sweet Castle surprised me because Twilight didn't spend the entire episode moping and doping over her old library like I thought she was going to, and this episode surprised me because of well...just about everything. I wasn't expecting Luna to unite all three crusaders in the dream realm, completing the circle, if you will. I also suspected Applebloom's shadow might have been Starlight Glimmer. I thought maybe she found a way to traverse the dream realm and was trying to get Applegloom to give up her ambitions of getting a cutie mark.

I think this was Josh Haber's BEST episode. It is also my FAVORITE characterization of Applebloom. This episode made her so much more interesting just like the other dream episodes did for the other 2 CMC characters. I actually found the dream sequences surprising and not to repetitive. I actually wondered if some of the dream cutie marks were real for a short time. I'm surprised so many people say this is an average episode when it seems above average especially for Haber's style. I related to how Applebloom was scaring herself with her "shadow" . As for Diamond Tiara and Slivespoon I think them doing the same bully thing over makes perfect sense because their remarks are based on Applebloom's real memories. Scootaloo flying in the dream almost made me cry.

As someone with deep anxiety issues, I adored this episode. I loved how the antagonist was Apple Blooms shadow, it showed so well how anxiety is so self - personified. I also loved the dreams progression of getting weird overtime, for example the subtle but extremely effective way Applejacks pancakes got crazier every dream. Now perhaps I'm a tad biased because anxiety is such a huge problem with me, but either way I related and took a lot away from this episode. Absolutely fantastic.

I thought it was mind-blowing how when Luna Showed Apple Bloom it was herself causing these Crazy Cutie mark dreams and how it was affecting their friends dreams, however their's one she learned. "Is always be appreciatative of what you haven." And i think thats what was AppleBloom going through that whole episode and she relized after Luna told her it was herself. Mind-blowing right their, and it was nice to actually see BigMac Talk he's never spoked through 4 seasons and now that he'll talk i can't wait for that:3

Did anypony else notice that Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo's dreams both showed them trying to preform their talent? This is the first I've seen they might be aware of what their talent really is, but are either to afraid to truly recognize it or are only aware subconsciously

I was very impressed with this episode for many reasons. One thing that I noticed however thqt no one has seemed to mention, while unconnected to the moral or story for the most part. We have known for awhile that Luna can see/visit ponies dreams, however this is the 1st time we have seen dreams in equestria as being an actual location where ponies can see and talk to each other, there are still the ponies created by the subconscious, but if another pony is dreaming it is possible to find them in their own dream, at the very least with the help of Princess Luna. Just a little something I thought was very interesting and reviels something of Luna's roll as guardian of the night.

I really love this episode so much^^ My favorite ester egg is Vinyl & Octavia sitting next to each other^^ & I relate to how Bloom fears her future &/or doesn't know what to do for her future. I was there myself 2 years ago in my depression & the beginning of my Brony life^^

I really enjoyed this episode! However, during the dream sequences, it was a bit predicable. When Applebloom got her "cutie mark", I knew it was a dream, but I still enjoyed them all the way through. I will admit that Babs getting her cutie mark did threw me off guard. Did not see that coming. I was looking forward to where Luna would appear. Since Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle had their episode with Luna, it only seems far that Applebloom had one. I will agree Sleepless in Ponyville and For Whom the Sweetie Belle Toils are more memorable, but Bloom and Gloom has a good moral that kids can relate to and even adults. I did enjoy the easter egg of Vinyl and Octavia as judges, along with Rarity, during Sweetie Belle's dream and Scootaloo flying. Applejack's lullaby was very beautiful and heartwarming. Almost reminds me of my relationship with my sister. Overall, I still liked this episode. Also, I think the CMC are getting older and more mature as the series goes. Applebloom's voice was a tad different, as well as Sweetie Belle's. It must mean the voice actresses are getting older, along with the characters. I'm getting the feeling that the CMC are going to get their cutie marks this season and that their story arc is coming to a close.

I found the episode very heart warming and inspiring, even though i'm in my "later" years. I identify with that conflict of, "what's my destiny", what's my purpose, what will people think of me, will i be good at what i do if i do x or y. What happens if i start doing things i thought i'd enjoy as a career and end up regretting every moment of it just to make money? There is so much internal conflict and possibility for regret that sometimes you end up with something similar to stage fright. And i identify with the nightmares you have that you thought you woke up, and thought thank goodness, only to be stuck in a horrible loop. I do wonder though sometimes, what happens if doing what you love, and you are talented at as a profession ends up killing your love for it? What if your cutie mark was something you enjoyed only for it to become a chore or something that would create depression in your life? I know from personal experiance the thing i love is art and graphic design but the pressure in a work place environment, or study, it can be so intense that if you struggle with anxiety you lose the ability to be creative. You do get performance anxiety. Would ponies and cutie marks be the same? Could they make themselves miserable too for doing the thing they are talented for and enjoy as a job?

Gem H That is actually a very interesting thought, and one that has been considered in the past. One such example being the 'Cutie Mark Failure Insanity Disorder' though it can also work in other ways as well, in which that your special talent become a burden because of stress or having to do it too much. The passion for what you are good and and enjoy doing. Yet I would offer, in such situations, that there are those that can help ponies suffering from such issues. Whether it be friends, family, or the equivalent of a psychologist I could some someone being able to help when another has lost their passion for the special talent.

Well several things here that I'm kinda embrassed about in myself. First off this episode fooled me not once...not twice... but three times in the dream states. I actually thought they were real because they were so different to the dream states of Sweetie Bell and Scootaloo. I didn't notice those slight changes in food or imagery in the background more likely because I was paying attention to the characters. When I finally did come to terms that all of those were nightmares... I was realizing then that Luna would be showing up any time now. Not once did I think Luna was that shadow figure in the background, because like you said, it didn't make sense. Luna wouldn't just up and troll a child... This isn't Nightmare Night lol. So with that said... I felt this episode had me going in loops and making me unsure, as well as feeling anxiety and stress for the characters. Which in this case... AWESOME!!! I can't remember the last time I actually got goosebumps in an MLP episode where I was actually scared for the character and what the future may hold for them because...I worry about the same exact thing every day. With this being interpreted through the visions of a child, these are very big things to worry and think about and I can't help but clap to the writers for putting it in so nicely. I suppose I did enjoy the episode though as well as even more appreciate the moral behind it. And yes defiently that Lullaby from AJ was amazing. It actually lowered my guard for this episode before the nightmare scenes started. I was so relaxed by her words, that I was thinking "yeah everything will be ok Apple Bloom, tomrrow is a new day and who knows, you might get your cutiemark!" this is where we'd insert "WRONG" lol. But still an amazing little song I hope to sing one day hehe.

I've wanted to see this ever since Apple Bloom left her friend ugh, background filly and met Scootaloo and Sweetie bell. I was hoping Apple would apologize to what's her flank for just leaving, but a message of your job not determining your personality is great, it's something I struggle with personally too -_- I need to overcome that flaw.I WANT MORE LUNA EPISODES!!! Maybe with the mane six? Please :c . when I saw her I stopped thinking discord was best Alicorn princess.

Wait, people thought *Luna* was the one saying those things to Apple Bloom? That's honestly just about amazing. Sometimes, I have to wonder if the fandom (for whatever reason) is simply incapable of accepting the idea that the princesses aren't trolls/tyrants/etc. What boggles my mind even more were the mental hurdles no doubt needed to develop those fanon ideas in the first place.

I'm tempted to say that this is in my top 5 episodes of the show, but there is one aspect that kind of bothers me. In the second dream sequence, Apple Blooms' Cutie Mark is a potion making mark. Despite the Show Stoppers suggesting that Apple Bloom is more creative than that. That wouldn't be so bad, but later seems with Sweetie Bell and Scootaloo Accurately represent what Show Stoppers suggests. So my guaranteed final thoughts of the episode will depend on what Apple Blooms' Cutie Mark is. But besides that, the gorgeous animation, fantastic moral, Awesome CMC, Perfect Pacing, very cute and entertaining moments and tons of relatablility towards Applebloom makes this very close to being my favourite episode (With the top being The Cutie Mark Chronicles)
@Fanatic_Foremem9 жыл бұрын
I think the big thing that ruined it for some people is that they were expecting the applebloom-luna episode so the red herings were red differently as a result. Since I wasn't expecting a Luna-Applebloom episiode, the moment the shadow started talking about how cutie marks ring nothing but trouble and offering to remove it... well it's kindof obvious isn't it? I thought Starlight Glimmer was back. And so I followed the episode wondering what her angle was and how she was manipulating appleblooms dreams. Luna coming in and revealing the shadow to be just that, a shadow, came as a nice twist because I wasn't waiting for her to show.
@sirmetaladon9 жыл бұрын
My Thoughts? Mainly, a little warning went off in my head when the "shadow figure" first spoke about cutie marks being a bad thing and I thought "Wait a minute, is this starlight glimmer?" After that point I was waiting for some external factor to appear like a "dream tick" or something of that sort or even a trace of anything starlight glimmer-like. When this didn't happen tho, I was confused.. All that talk from the fans about starlight being a recurring character in S5 because she was in the premier kind of made me feel like this episode could have taken a different (and more fan-appealing) route to the moral.(which was good, i agree)

•I liked it. I'm glad Josh Haber is improving. •The CMC are going to grow up sooner or later, so it makes sense to gradually address more adult themes. •While I don't have the exaggerated fears that Apple Bloom has, I always feel a little concerned about what my family will think of whatever choices I make. So yes, I can relate for the most part. •Probably chicken Pinkie. •I never 'hated' Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon as much as most other fans, but this episode did increase my disdain for them quite a lot.

I liked this episode, thou the one tiny thing i was upset was how the 2nd cutie mark she got, the Apple Potion Cutie Mark, I was almost thinking that would be her Talent. I know alot of us like to think of what kind of Cutie Mark the CMC's might get, and after between Hearts Desire episode and Twilight Time, I really thought she be into potions.

You mentioned how it was obvious that these were all dream sequences. However, I wouldn't say it's as obvious as you imply. Everytime Apple Bloom was back in the Everfree Forest, there was a mysterious mare who had the ability to take away her cutie mark. And in the season premier, who do we know who can take away cutie marks? It's true that at first I thought these were dream sequences...which was correct. But it also could've been Starlight Shimmer trying to convince children that cutie marks are bad by creating these situations. It was because if this theory that I couldn't wait to see the end to see which of the possibilities were correct. It does seem a bit too coincidental that the season premier had a pony who could remove a ponies cutie mark, and now there's an episode about Apple Bloom finding somepony who can remove her cutie mark for her. Perhaps Starlight Shimmer is the one behind those dreams...

I have to agree with you on every aspect of the episode you brought up in this review. Although a lot what transpired between the Crusaders as well as Applebloom and Diamond Tiara and Silver spoon made sense to me from the start but this was because I realized early on that Applebloom was dreaming and that anything that occurs within her dream would make sense to her as it is her perception of things around her. It does make sense that a nightmare would force you to go through things you fear most and children often times have a nightmare repeat itself multiple times. I know as I went through this same thing when I was young. Aside from this perspective I have I do think you hit the nail on the head for this episode. Kudos to you.

Although we as people will never get cutie marks that tell us what our destinies are, I feel the moral is still very relatable. I don't know what I want to do with my life, and that worries me. Once I finally figure it out, it scares me when I think how things could change. However, like the morals says, my destiny will not change me but merely show me who I am, and that I should be happy with myself.

I agree with a lot of your points here. Though I actually think this is the one time Diamond and Silver being one dimensional bullies didn't bug me, since...well, as you said, this is how Apple Bloom sees things. So it only makes sense Diamond and Silver would be the bullies she imagines them as.

I did like the episode for obvious reasons. I, like many, thought it was Starlight Glimmer, even though I knew it was a dream. As I already said in a comment, I would of thought Applejack told her family about her adventure in "Our Town" town and about Starlight. And now with all the stuff told about Starlight's ideology on cutie marks,mixed in with Applebloom's feelings, would have her imagine Starlight (probably in shadows and hiding since she doesn't now what she looks like) offering to take her cutie mark. Speaking of Starlight, I figured this episode did brought up negative aspects of cutie marks that could happen. Hell, in a vlog on Cutie Map, I pretty much thought it would be nice to explore such negativity on the cutie marks and, even in this dream form, it did came to light. If such things does happen in the show and not in a dream, then I'll be really happy.
