“Don’t plan to far ahead , but be an expert in what you’re doing currently”… Heavy gem 💎

I started investing with American Funds thirty years ago. Jon Lovelace and Jim Rothenberg were my heroes along with many others of the old guard. Their annual reports were second to none and I loved reading them. I got a little spooked when Tim Armour took the helm and the annual reports became just as bland as the rest of the industry's reports. Mr. Armour was far less visible to the world and that scared me a little, also. However, he did begin their dual successful ventures of growing the fixed income part of their business and introducing their new ETFs which have been very popular. Mike Gitlin has been more visible and obviously he was the right choice to assume the CEO position. It is an egoless firm and a true meritocracy. Capital Group/American Funds have been very, very good to me. Wishing then another 90+ years of success!

Hello Mr. Rubinstein, I love your interviews and think all the advice for the average investor is great. However, I'd love to hear from these managers about the troubles they face, the mistakes they've made, and how they tackle them. Additionally, I'd be interested in learning how their personal preferences differ from their professional decisions as managers. Thank you.

Common question that David would ask in his interviews. "Did you ever think you will be the CEO?"

Saying you manage 2 trillion in assets don’t have the same power or meaning it did 15 years ago. I hear a lot managers saying they manage a trillion dollars 🤷🏾♂️
