Thanks for the Hydrangea tip to break off the leaves when they are in water. I have also used Quick Dip for them, after watching a flower care video last year. The Hydrangeas frighten me, as they didn't do so well my first time around. I was thinking that they didn't like the Quick Dip. They were not lively and vibrant. Only one in the arrangement looked well. Hopefully, your tip about prepping them in water will help me my second time around. As it is now, I pray I don't get a Hydrangea bride. My confidence level to work with them is low.

Do you put flower food in the water? If so,is there a ratio? If a stem gets a bend, can that heal or do you need to cut it at the bend? Are there flowers that can’t go together in a bucket?

Hi! For flower food please follow the directions on the packaging as different brands and quantities require different food to water ratios. If a stem is bent you can either wire and tape it to straighten it or you can cut it at the bend. Using appropriately sized buckets/vases/containers can help alleviate this issue. I usually group the same variety of flowers in the same bucket. Don’t put daises in with other flowers and always make sure there is no debris in the water and that it it topped off and fresh daily.
