Ah, Blossom, many have found you late in life, many after you left us. Yet, that’s the point, artistry and talent like yours never dies, lives forever. You gifted us forever.

This is a very complex melody and she does it so well and yet without any seeming effort. Exquisite voicings in her accompaniment too. Brava, as always for Blossom!

We talked with this amazingly talented lady in a T V show dressing room. My piano colleague was a real great, and told her in loving tribute that her own accompaniment to her singing was faultless, sweet, appropriate. She was such an open and honest darling of art, with a touch unique, a taste sublime, a sense of the ridiculously honest state of it.

Blossom is a jazz treasure, a giant. I love her feeling, her phrasing, both vocally and with her tasteful, swinging piano playing. Thank you for posting!

I spent most of my life in Chicago, so I mostly fell in love with Blossom through her recordings. I heard he live only once, in a small club on a visit to New York. I shall never forget it. She is, indeed, a unique treasure.

I know this is late but I was a Chicago boy too tho lived in CA as an adult. Saw her a couple of times in San Francisco and Palo Alto but I also saw her once on a trip home at Jazz Showcase when it was in a hotel - I think the Sheraton Blackstone. My folks are gone now but they would have known. They were big jazz fans and loved Blossom.

One credited, Irving Mills, was Duke's agent, who cut himself in for royalties, but probably had nothing to do with the lyrics. You'll see his name on a lot of Duke's music.
