Blowing my nebours eardrum - RCF PA180SW Subwoofer - Restoration

I eventually upgraded my audio kit with a pair of 18" subwoofers. The box came empty and had some work to do.
The sound-test was done with my phone and all the vibration and noise come from the room and furniture. Box sounds super clear and natural in persone

I have a Mackie PA 180SW I need to refurbish. This video convinced me to keep instead of adding to the rubbish bin. Now to find a woofer.

The scratchy woofers indicate that the voice coil adhesive has failed. Normally this is due to heat; the woofer may not be intended to take high power.

Interesting, they look like they are based on the Event ESW1018, or maybe the 1018 was based on these, depending on when they first came out. (Actually after some more research, these were also sold by Mackie in the USA during the period when Mackie owned RCF)

Yes, it's the same box design, but the rcf esw1018 is the original design.
