Found it difficult to keep up with you. That’s the way it goes with knowledge and passion for something. I can’t imagine having these in my listening environment. 14 by 23. But ya…. I totally get it. Your listening environment looks like a bunker in concrete. It would seem that Buchardt is on point with the elimination of gear with the minimalist built in design. Let’s face facts. This is more than 99% of people would ever demand from a system. The rest of the folks love to invest in boutique components. Power to them. For most consumers who go down the rabbit hole with interest? This has to be more than they ever thought to discover at the price. I have been watching and learning for 5 serious years now. This was a great review.

Been looking for speakers for 2 years. I settled for the A700 about 10 months ago. Best ever. Couple of additions: room correction is super simple and really good. Low listening enhancement is brilliant. Client support is second to none. Business model uses no middle man where margins sticks on local dealers. Upgrades will be possible, for example down the years to come, a new amp module or so is easily installed etc. I am just in love with them, and as a music producer i know a thing or two about sound:) ps: the best hifi speaker for techno music. Deep hypnotic techno is just crazy stupid on these speakers. That subbass is so sweet.

The Theoretical correction specifically targets the highest possible Olive preference score, so I would definitely expect it to be the one which most people prefer. Room correction is still quite critical, though. While your room may be very dead above the Schroeder frequency (~500Hz), there are always modal peaks and dips around 100Hz which often aren't noticeable until they have been corrected.

@@Rubmaster I like the Theoretical Master tuning. What nobody explained yet is that you have to use the Room correction app on the HUB with the FLAT setting on the speakers, and then use other Tunings. If you use a forward midrange tuning, for example, and then the ROOM correction, the room correction will flatten the forward midrange tuning or any other tunings applied to speakers before room correction by the hub or your own receiver. I use the flat tuning, and two 15-inch subs , crossed at 80 HZ, so not a lot of Bass is sent to A700, but they can handle plenty

@@Rubmaster Only speakers I owned coming close to A700 are Martin Logan Motion 40, while Infinity Reference 253, or Wharfedale Diamond 11.4 do not sound as clear/airy Must be the folded Motion tweeter Martin Logan speakers have, sounds more clear, and I guess the DSP crossovers of the Buchardt make them sound so much better. Keep in mind the difference is not huge from Martin to Buchardt in terms of clarity, in my experience,, but Buchardt has that huge bass extended to 17 Hz and very powerful, custom DSP modes, etc. You need the HUB, to keep it all in the digital domain. Without the HUB , A700 will convert analog to digital, apply DSP, and then analog conversion to the drivers. Is a shame so many people are still waiting for the 7.1 Atmos HUB for WISA speakers

I have the exact same pair and I agree they are incredible speakers. The LLE adjustment, DSP, room correction, master tunings makes is so good compared to others. I’ve heard many speakers at audio stores but they can’t compete with the control the A700s have. Anybody that heard any bookshelf and then heard these would immediately notice the even level sound, how easy it throws sound and full dynamics. Yes there are speakers that can do brighter highs but the A700 are very good to listen to for long periods. It makes almost any song sound good. I have the Totem Fire V2 bookshelfs but it cannot come close to the full dynamics of the A700 even when using the 60hz cutoff master tuning. Many speakers will play a song where the bass kicks in or a high comes in and it’s surprising and unexpected, but the A700 don’t do this. Must be the DSP evening things out
@clintonsmurf6496
@clintonsmurf6496 2 жыл бұрын
Just to add regarding comparing to bookshelves. I hooked up my totem fires to solid state and tube amp with and without eq adjustment. They can go to 30hz. I cannot get the full dynamic sound that the A700 gives. Not even close. I’m selling the fires. I tried a few focal passive floorstanders but didn’t like them compared to A700. I think it’s correct that if the Buchardt were sold in your local stores it would outsell everything else

The issue with the ls50s is distortion as you increase level and huge level compression. Erin measured this. He also measured the A500s and it’s much better. If the LS60 competes, they’ve done quite a bit of work (they certainly can).

Sound comparison would be useful but the electronics in the KEF are highly suspect. The HDMI loses sync and drops and stutters. The LS50 Wireless gen 1 are already unsupported and e-waste. I agree on this approach. It's the future of audio. I have a set of Bamberg series 3 with a minidsp studio and my laptop and I'm done. It's so good. They use the hypex amps. One amp and dac for each driver with all the crossover done in the digital domain BEFORE the amplifiers makes this direct coupleing effect that is incredibly satisfying . Mine actually do go down to 20htz. Stunning clarity, so i can relate to this way of doing audio. In It really let's the designer showcase their filter design prowess because they can do designs that after IMPOSSIBLE with passive systems.
@djscott9207
@djscott9207 Жыл бұрын
Good comment. Active crossovers have been around for 50 years in the pro audio world (Ashley, Rane, Soundcraftsmen, DBX, Crown, etc.) and for 40 years in the home and car audio world (Marchand, Bryston, Audio Control, etc.) with exceptional results. Granted without DSP, many claimed it was still a better way of processing the signal for a more lifelike sound reproduction yet this method was largely ignored by the consumer audio industry except for in the case of active subwoofers. DSP has been around now for 30 years in the pro audio and studio production industry, allowing for driver and room interference compensation/correction. This should have been the point when passive crossovers were left out of home speaker boxes and when active processing took over the industry, DSP or not. It is a better more "Occam's Razor" like way of doing things and it is a lot of what makes these newer active speakers sound like a "live" presentation: there is no passive resistance and capacitance for the amplifier to have to push its signal through. It puts a lockdown on the driver with zero confusion. The other positive result of this active approach is the higher order Linkwitz Riley 24db/octave phase linear crossover design built into each DSP that allows seamless integration between drivers within the network. This was not really possible in passive crossovers. It created too much complexity, cost, and group delay issues. This "new approach" leads to higher dynamics, less distortion, and better soundstaging not because it's digital per se but because the processing is taking place prior to amplification in the low level signal. Lastly, speaker manufactures are now able to match their designs with their chosen amplification. That in itself is leading to higher fidelity. Speaker manufacturers have greater control over the entire signal process from the digital source to the analog rendering. Everything is matched in a way not easily possible in the recent past, but could have been if prioritized.

I Love that review, if you want to test a speaker that could possibly destroy the Buchardt. Please try the swiss "Piega Premium Wireless 501 Gen. 2" they are also wireless and active. Whats special about them is the full aluminum body and the ribbon tweeter, at about the same price or even less. I would love to see a review from you. Love from Germany!

We need Danny from GR research to show us how crappy the frequency response is and how cheesy the parts are and sell us 7 crossovers, one for each curve, LOL. I love you, Danny, you are very entertaining, but sometimes I think Dirac would correct most of the speakers while factoring in the particular listening environment for truly flat frequency response. I mean..the problem is that you sink 6K+ into these, and a few years down the line the amp breaks, or the speaker portion breaks. Now you have to either service the whole thing, or start from scratch. That's the upside of components vs anything all-in-one - but of course, everything can be tuned to work perfectly together so it's a tough one.

The electronics can be removed and serviced without sending the whole speaker. It can also be upgraded and replaced so could be supported for many years later. If you upgrade or replace an amplifier there is a good change you would feel the need to upgrade or change the speakers and maybe the source to eliminate the weakest link.

The sounds is really great. There’s no denying that, but I still believe there’s a lot to be said about passive speakers and separate gear. For one thing is the electronics go in your speaker. You don’t have to send away your whole system to be repaired shipping those speakers, even if you split, the cost would be quite expensive. The warranty even though it says 10 years, the breakdown of the warranty, especially on the electronics part. Being only two years is a concern. If there was a system failure that can really be detrimental to the speakers. It would be the electronics, not just a drive units. One thing I find interesting is many audio files that are considered. Purists, live and die by the idea of flat sounds as neutral as possible. In some regards, some of them would consider this like sacrilege lol. What I find interesting is, if this would be excepted a setting or anything that changes the sound signature of a speaker bed with electronics. Like basically a different sound mode from a receiver, which many people look down on. It would be interesting to see how they would go for this. I myself have always believed go for what sounds best to you. The individual as sound is obviously very subjective. The biggest thing that I would say is an advantage to having separate components as an example. You’re actually a perfect example Z. is the part of your gear. Breaks down say a speaker or a receiver. You have the opportunity to replace a component or if it’s covered by warranty. Send only a section of your system that as compared to a huge potential shipments. Remember not. Everybody is technically blessed to replace drive units let alone other more electronically sophisticated components. LOL At least you would be able to have a system potentially, if you have back up gear and so on instead of sending it all in one component that houses most of your set up. I guess it really comes down to personal preference myself. I’ll take the separate components.

They have fantastic bass, which is more profound than the bass of many dedicated subs; but, trust me, two 15-inch high-end subs will hit harder and feel different. There is no replacement for displacement In a big room at very high levels, a sub will improve the bass, especially for movies. The limiters will kick in if just the A700 speakers are used, with most of MasterTunings Nevertheless, even without subs they sound great. I love them with and without subs

The amplifiers are class D and deliver 150W into 4 Ohms (at unknown shmoo floor), which would entail approximately 60W of dissipation under full load or 1W under a more realistic 10W average. There are no significant thermal concerns, here.
