Apparently Apocalypse Demon isn't supposed to work with Offspring's Revenge (according to several Judges on Twitter it should be a 1/1 and not get the buff for creatures in our graveyard). I didn't realize this and apparently neither did MTGO! #qualityprogram

@@chifii That's different from copy effects that specifically modify characteristics of the thing that they're copying (including Offspring's Revenge). Abilities that would set those things just don't get copied over to the new token object, so in this case, the token Apocalypse Demon will just have base power 1/1 and won't have the ability talking about GY count at all. (Rule 706.9d is the relevant part of the comp rules, for the full citation.)

Given the fact that Apocalypse Demon isn't actually supposed to work, it needs to be replaced. Perhaps Multani, Yavimaya's Avatar or Embodiment of Agonies would be somewhat decent substitutes? They're not quite as reliably devastating as the bugged Apocalypse Demon, but they at least come close. The Embodiment of Agonies especially has the extra benefit of being fairly easy to cast early to mid game. Whatever ends up happening, though, it's certainly an entertaining video and concept!

I 100% could be wrong but I feel like you might have been able to win through Chandra ultimate since they would have to consistently draw 2 spells per turn and you could gain some life off rhino. (Potentially 8 life since they might have to kill Rhino)

I love offspring's revenge because I loved the seance deck you made in modern a few years ago and have been playing it since then. I kinda think that seance is better, but I love the master of cruelty!

Seth, is green that crucial for the deck to work? I think it would be more consistent going Mardu and replacing the green cards with Seasoned pyromancer, Skyclave Apparition, tidehollow Sculler, even Ajani Vengeant.

I think playing green for BoP helps it stay competitive enough in terms of speed, and lets the deck utilize commune with the gods and Assassin trophy, and sideboard knight of autumn as he mentions earlier.

It's most for Birds of Paradise. I'm afraid it will be too slow without it. The other stuff can be replaced, but Modern games end so quickly I'm afraid casting Offspring's Revenge on turn five will be too slow a lot of the time.

They usualy sideboard in a single basic. This makes Assassin's Trophy double bad against it (and scooping g2 possibly a punt) as casting it does nothing except putting them back to 100% combo.

Like there's still a lot on the board, but it's not an insta-kill. Likewise, Veil of Summer seems like a reasonable counter against the Spy because it stops all of the Creeping Chills from going off.

I don't think is really matters for thisbuild because Birds of Paradise is the only creature we can't reanimate with Offspring's Revenge. Painter's Servant to reanimate non-white/red/black creatures could be a fun deck though.

If there's good news it's that it it can be beat with interaction (graveyard hate, discard and counters), although you do need to have one right away.

@@MTGGoldfish Yeah but it's some specific type of interaction. Most removal spells (which are the most common interaction) seem to be simply dead against that deck. And they can sideboard efficient answers to counter the hate (cf the Nature's Claim against your Leyline). I guess I just don't like one card combos. One could say it's a 60 cards combo but we all know the Balustrade Spy is the only important card here ^^

Grisly Salvage digs deeper and can hit creatures. If we could get Satyr Wayfinder back with Offspring's Revenge I think it would be better than Salvage, but since we can only get back red/black/white creautres I think that Salvage is slightly better.

Now that there are some many Twitch streams and so much content it feels like every cool deck shows up somewhat within a day or two of it being published. I'm curious what people think though. @@gustavowadaslopes2479 only with some of them. Apocalypse Demon only matters because of a bug. But you are right. Also the fact the creature sticks around matters too. I made this comment before I finished the video and there are 2 main things I missed, that the creatures stick around (with Séance they leave the same turn they enter), and that there are creatures were attacking is really good (master of cruelties, combat celebrant, mr. mtgo bug)

Not quite correct. It ignores 'attribute defining abilities', which are ones represented by asterisks in the Power/Toughness area (like Nighthawk Scavenger or Tarmagoyf, or more relevantly, Apocalypse Demon). Abilities like Multani, Yavimaya's Avatar (which is a 0/0 that gives itself +1/+1 per land in play/graveyard) is not affected by Offspring's Revenge.

I don't mind winning by timing out opponents. If they're gonna play slow, grindy, mind-numbing control decks or multi-step infinite combos, you better be able to do it in time, or don't play it. Those kinda decks prey on people's impatience to try and get them to scoop early. Control decks with nothing but card draw, counterspells, and removal and some EVENTUAL wincon are the worst.
