Just watched this and I have a 2000 f250 with the 5.4 with 2 valves and so far it’s working great. Thanks for your video

Did you use the same spark plug for the threads to sit in ?

@@lowsiento9567 I tapped out the hole and yes the same plugs for what the factory calls for. She still running good. I was nervous as heck tapping it out but took my time

You forgot to allow the High Temp Sealer to adhere to the the head. Way to quick, plus no cleaning out of the shivers in the cylinder before inserting the Helicoil.

Yeah. You got to vacuum the metal shavings and you got to let the threadlocker set.

Great video Sir. Thank you. I remember that sound.

The insert prevents the spark plug from protruding into the cylinder as far as it normally would. By upwards of 1/4” or more. Is this an issue?

This just happened to a go cart that I’m fixing up for my son. It’s a 140 cc motor and the plug just blew out. Do you think the same size that you used in this video will work for the go cart

Thank you for the video. Why did you not include starting up the vehicle afterwards?

The high temp sealer used on the insert threads has to sit up to 24 hours. Based on another reply to a comment, he doesn't wait at all so I am not sure why he didn't show it. It is important to let the sealer sit before starting though.

I’m trying to get this done on a 2003 explorer but I would never use any Electric/Air tools on a spark plug that seems catastrophic

Ive noticed the M14 - 1.25 in a few videos. Is this a standard size for autos?...I have a 2007 civic with a 1.8L 4 cyl I need to do this to.

You did not clean the grease off the newly tapped hole, so the lok-tite will not hold. Watch Ron Williams Cla Van insert video for correct way to do this

What are the chances of the insert not staying when going to remove the spark plug? I just want to make sure I get it right.
@doublek4413 жыл бұрын
Sometimes the insert will try to come out with a spark plug. if that happens he can leave the plug and insert in for a few hours and let the silicone dry.

Or you can use the tool you used to bore the hole out to put the coil in then screw the spark plug in

@@doublek441 Someone once mentioned that they remove loctite fitted bolts by heating them up. Wouldn't cylinder heat keep melting loctite? I have a spark plug that is always coming out with the insert and I dont know what to put... Is the high heat RTV superior for the job than loctite?

For anyone that sees this comment... plz for the love of whatever god u beleive in... blow out the cylinder.. or vacuum it out.. something.. you dont want metal shavings of any size inside there.. i cant beleive he didnt do that.. or didnt show it at least.. and y cant you use the tapered spark plug if you use the tapered tool.. to widen it out.. wouldnt it serve the same purpose? May be just a little harder to get the plug back out i guess..
