Yep Uncle and I did the Red Streak VN which ran 12.4 for about $900. The 13's for 1300 was an awesome initiative and a lot of fun. Scotty really put the challenge on the map with Project Bluebird, and my main regret was not being able to line up against Scotty and the other challengers. We went through three engines (at $100 each lol). Full build is on PerformanceForums, but it was a $100 VN, an ebay spool, some 4.6:1 diff gears from a pintara from memory, a stall converter from someone elses' build and a few weekends with an angle grinder. Radials were borrowed from a mate (ALLMTR?). A nitrous fogger kit was bought off gumtree for $70 and we were using the end of a bottle from ALLMTR from memory. Front and rear bumpers were held on with thread bar and cable ties because there was literally no structure behind them, and the boot floor (rusty anyway) was cut out and a real estate corflute sign glued in with liquid nails. It ran out of revs before the 1/4 mile mark and the nitrous fogger wasn't mounted properly and kept flooding the intake which we think is what kept killing the motor. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rpi1mKRqjcR3ra8 kzbin.info/www/bejne/mZvFZpmFe7eblck kzbin.info/www/bejne/eGbKmoWmhJxoqs0

In any case, thanks for all the content Scotty - time to rewatch 13s for $1300 I think. Was the first bit of your content I saw and been watching everything you since. Reckon you were right convincing the bride to let you do it! Great to hear some more of the background too, really enjoyed that. Would love it if there was a similar comp now - plenty of usable stat write-offs going through the auctions now that pretty much everything with a scratch gets written off... 12s for $2k would be outstanding.

You occasionally run into those kinds of assholes. I was heading to work one morning when I realised I had forgotten my lunchbox. I was only a couple of k's from home, so I did a quick u-bolt and headed home. Just as I headed back toward home I met an unwelcomed sight on a bend, obviously I was in quite a hurry, they did a quick turn around and were behind me in nothing flat, by which time I was doing John Q Citizen and they had no idea of my velocity where we crossed paths on the bend. So they tried baiting me by saying you could be man enough to admit that you were doing wrong. I was like fuck you sunshine if you have no proof, I am not about to do your job for you. So once it was obvious I wasn't going to play their game they defected my HZ ute. They sent me for a machinery because my spare tyre in the back of the ute didn't have legal tread (turns out it didn't have to. If it isn't fitted to the car it isn't illegal according to Main Roads) and they crawled under the car and found a small rust spot in the driver side floor panel. They also said it was too low, which it wasn't, it was right on legal height. Long story short I fixed the floor which needed doing anyway for less money than I would have contributed to their revenue raising exercise.
