Interesting story about the "Unrated cut". That's in fact the British theatrical cut of the film. The version released in the UK in cinemas, VHS, laserdisc, and on TV had a death scene that was longer than the US cut. The MPAA trimmed it while we got a version that was pre-MPAA approved (the original Nightmare on Elm Street is the exact same, we got a cut of the film theatrically and on VHS that had Tina's body dropping on the bed with a blood splatter, the MPAA version cut that out). Unfortunately because it's easier for distributors and save them hassle, the source of every DVD/Blu-ray version worldwide of both films is the US version which is then distributed to each country. However when Arrow Video got the license to release Candyman, they knew the original UK version is uncut however Universal US had told them they lost the raw material of that scene so did a search throughout the UK for a native 35mm print and found one lying around in a cinema in Bradford, I believe. Then quickly did a 2K scan of that print for that longer death scene and inserted it back into the film, finally giving us an HD version of the uncut Candyman. And they allowed Scream Factory to borrow their scan for their release. So you can thank Arrow for the uncut Candyman on your blu-ray because they did all the work in finding it and restoring it. The Arrow release correctly calls it the "UK Theatrical Cut".

I love the original, watched i very recently as well. I haven't seen the sequel but the 3rd one was shown on cable a few times and I couldn't get past the first few minutes.

The new film is a direct sequel to the first film, ignoring the other sequels. Similar to David Gordon Green's Halloween.

These are easily some of the best horror films to be released during the 90s. I've met Mr. Todd as he did a narration for my buddy's band for his Candyman track. Super awesome guy, absolute gentleman and great actor. Hope you enjoy the films my dude. First two are excellent, 3rd...well.....you'll see. Interested to see what they do with this reboot.

I remember the 3rd Candyman not being too good. The first and second movies are classics. I met Tony Todd way back in 2003 at a convention. He was really down to earth. Signed my old DVD 📀 copy of Night of the living Dead remake. Along side Tom Savini.

MmmYeah. The Candyman is kind of like the F13 Series. The First is a True Horror Classic! The Next 2...errr..much like some of the latter Friday's When Candyman is on screen, its GOLD! When Candyman aint on screen..wellll...lets just say GOLD it AINT!

Not really a trilogy so much as an excellent one-off first film followed by 2 horrendously awful cash-grabs.
