I watch the Blue Angels fly in Seattle every year. It's nice to see them fly over my hometown of San Francisco.

Thanks for this video! Great video job! Had seen the AF Thunderbirds one time back here in MA but never experienced anything like this. I took my aunt's spot on a trip she planned with my mom out to SF back in '95. It was about 5 month's after my father had passed and I didn't want my mother to have to cancel her trip after my aunt had to cancel herself just a few weeks before scheduled to go. I had never been there and thought why not spend some quality time with mom and do some tourist things. Plus she needed to get away after losing the love of her life and I could use it too for the same reason. Neither of us had ever been there as mentioned and we had no clue it was Fleet Week when we arrived until we were at Pier 39 and saw all the ships in port and all the activities along the waterfront. At no time however did either of us have a clue the Blue Angels performed later during that week. UNTIL......we just so happened to be traveling back from an early morning visit to the Muir Woods and were driving super slow back across the Golden Gate Bridge, taking it all in (doesn't every tourist do this) and low and behold, there's an airshow going on with vintage planes that were seemingly flying right at us on the bridge. I was like,..... Holy Crap! What's going on! So I meandered immediately down towards the waterfront somehow. Simply on my sense of direction and nothing else(no gps back then of course) and trying to see these old fashioned planes fly over the bay. I thought, lets get close to the water to see these vintage planes. As we drove along Marina Blvd and the Marina Green it was a terrific sight these old planes. We drive along and make our way onto Bay St when holy crap there's this undeniable roar of jet engines and I knew what they were immediately. Next second I know, the freaking Blue Angels appear out of nowhere flying above seemingly coming out of the houses and buildings in the neighborhood on the hill to our right and back over the bay and within seconds I'm in panic mode yelling, we got to park the car. We got to get back to the water to watch this. My mom's telling me to calm down and I'm like, R U freaking kidding me! I can't miss this. Within seconds, I find myself taking a left onto the end of Van Ness Ave in a line of cars and just follow the car in front of me towards the bay. It appears we can't go further and cars in front are turning around and heading back but the car in front of me keeps going and I follow. Hell, no one's stopping us, so we just continue to go further and futher. Next thing I know, we are literally at the end of the road, just feet before the gates to the Aquatic Park Pier, HOLY CRAP! The Blue Angels just began their air show, flying over the bay and roaring thru the air and I'm at the water's edge wanting to get out and watch this show but there's no spots of course so what should I do. Then a cop directing people yells to the car in front of us and to me,"just double park. It's ok"! Obviously no one parked legally was leaving anyhow, they're all there watching the show of course. We get out and the cop says just make sure you leave as soon as the show's over. I'm like, SERIOUSLY? We can park here. He's like yep! If this was Boston or New York or anywhere back East, FORGET ABOUT IT! The police would be like, get the F out of here.Actually you would never have been able to even get that close to begin with driving right up like that but whose complaining! What a gift! So there we were...Getting out of the car, no less then 25 or so feet away from the beginning of the pier at Aquatic Park at Gashouse Cove. ARE YOU KIDDING ME! And of course not only is it the best viewing spot for the show because the pier goes out into the bay, BUT it was also the epicenter of the show where the Blue Angels Review Stand is located and where the air show is being narrated from over the loud speakers I know CRAZY,...right? Talk about blind luck! It was AWESOME! We only missed probably 2 or 3 minutes of the show in what seemed like a lifetimel and not only are we at the water to view the rest of it BUTwe're at the most prime viewing spot for the entire show! The spot where military families were behind the ropes further out on the pier, etc. I couldn't believe it! My mother was in awe. Nevermind a first trip to SF but a first air show ever too! I am shaking my head as I write this thinking back because that just doesn't happen to people. EVER! I still can't believe it to this day! But it's 100% true! Looking back my Dad had to have had something to do with our luck that day. Had to have had! smh ~ Anyhow, seeing those jets over the bay, over the bridge, over Alcatraz and even more crazy, witnessing them seemingly coming right out of nowhere from yards of the houses and buildings on the hill behind us........RIDICULOUS! ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS! I have seen the Thunderbirds and Blue Angels again since that week, ...both times they were overland shows. Nothing like over water and absolutely nothing like over such a historical body of water and all of it's scenery and attractions! No BETTER or MORE BEAUTIFUL spot to watch the Blue Angels Air Show then over San Francisco Bay next to the Golden Gate Bridge. So here I am 21 years later and I told my daughter a bit ago, when she's older(just a tween now), that we'll go to SF during Fleet Week someday and see the Blue Angels perform because it's one of the greatest experiences she'll ever have in her life. It was a memory of a lifetime for me as I can assure it would be for anyone else whose never experienced such a gift!

Thanks for probably the longest comment I've ever received! Glad you enjoyed the video. If you ever do make it back to SF during fleet week, I would recommend also touring some of the ships. But go early on a weekday, before the crowds and long lines.

Thank you so much for doing this. I had to work all weekend, so this definitely made up for not being out there. Great video (and editing). :)

They used to fly much lower a few years ago. The two solos would do sub-sonic flights over the water. Looks like they've stopped. :(

Actually, in theory, a 4K TV can sometimes make 1080 material look slightly better than on a 1080 TV through upconverting/upscaling. But only a little bit. Depends upon the TV.

Haha, ya I did think it was 4K. But your right, the newer TV's definitely image process. Its a Samsung KU6300.

I'll that that as a compliment -- that it was good 1080! ;-)

Nobody gives a shit about “pet trauma” the only dogs that should get ptsd from jet noise are military dogs and I highly doubt you own a former military service dog
