The "bee" is a side-effect of going via Japanese instead of directly Greek→English, since Japanese phonology is so limited. Oddly, every dictionary I check claims it's "uh-BAI-dos", with a schwa for the first syllable and the stress on the second, but I've only ever heard "A-bi-dos", with stress on the first syllable, and "bi" and in "bit". That's what Stargate used, for example. Maybe the dictionary version is just an over-anglicization.
