I had a Bluebird that I just sold because it made my voice sound very thin and this video kind of reaffirmed my thinking. Thanks!

You need pop filter
@shawnandros23554 жыл бұрын
I like both sounds, but honestly, the lack of pop filter is so distracting that I am concentrating on how they distort differently on "PUH" rather than normally should sound... You have a great voice for a test, Blue sounds warmer to my ear, AKG wider headroom perhaps, but both mics are very capable and I may eventually try out both.

Which audio interface do you recommend for an akg perception 420 in 2024? (I'm working on an m1 max mbp & DAW-Ableton )

AKG P420 Bro. It has that Iconic AKG/Neumann Classic yet up to date in your face presence.

Thanks for sharing this video. I'm looking into getting a warmer sounding condenser mic and I like the AKG Perception Mic a lot.

I had an MXL 990 years ago but I like this one a lot. I like Blue too but I think AKG hasn’t gotten enough credit for the Perception condensers. I want to use it for acoustic guitar, vocals, voice over, group podcasts and drums. Thanks for sharing this.

I do have the AKG. I LOVE the Shure SM7b. we use it at work and it is a thing of beauty. it is only a matter of time before I make it a home mic!

Akg c214 or akg p420 better for vocals????
@joshyyred4 жыл бұрын
The c214 will have a bit more clarity imo but you have more polar patterns. Budget will play a role here as well.

Shed Light Media don’t get a c214, it is brutal on vocals, the highs are soooooo sharp and thin... stay away

Would the anyone of these be good for podcasts? I know the akg has piano , percussion an more on the music front but I would like to start a podcast and I wanna know what would be a good microphone to start with. Thanks for the review was a laugh.

If you don't have a proper room, isolated and acoustically treated it might be better to get a good dynamic mic so you don't here that much whats going on in the background, like the kids in this case. great options for that are the shure sm7b and ev re20, those are expensive microphones but that is what most people use for rooms far from ideal.
@aholder44713 жыл бұрын
I second the Sure Sm7b or the EV RE20 for podcasts. I wouldn't use a condenser, it would pick up too much background stuff and you would have to keep your room silent, which is rarely a priority during a podcast. That is solid advice. 👌 A good dynamic will also make the sound of the voice very forward without much work, which is also a good thing for podcasts. It also has pop filters built in, so you don't need an extra pop filter for your guests to have to fiddle with during a show. That's a lot of pros and no cons that I can even think of tbh.
