Your playing is awesome Avishai, and I'm determined to conquer the Salsa example to Blue Bossa - The hardest part for me is the Tumbao in the LH, and a completely different thing going on in the RH for solo piano. Would you consider a simplified tutorial (if you haven't made one already) just vamping on a Cmi chord for about 8 bars, slow & then up to BB speed? How about following that example with one that moves 2 bars of Cmi going to 2 bars of Fmi back and forth? Thanks! Intellectually I understand it, but want to FEEL this technique in a natural unforced way.

I really like combining and and using different styles within the same song. I totally love going from the traditional jazz to Latin jazz to salsa to Blues to Basa Nova to freeform jazz where you play slightly outside of the traditional song to coming back to the traditional song and going into salsa going back and forth making a very happy audience applaud to hear more what you can do. You are an excellent teacher and you said good examples in your videos. Thank you

I suspect that this music has a different type of complexity outside of Bebop phrasing. It seems to be moving through a lot of center key changes, and I suspect that it is utilizing a Major third in the phrygian, which is of the Aeolian natural minor relative perspective minor/Major 7:) which gives us that harmonic minor sound. I'm curious just how this is following the modality in the perspective key changes.

Sounds awesome - talk about hand independence!! This LH rhythm with offbeat accents in your opening demo of salsa style is what's most demanding to coordinate, especially if I'm thinking too hard about it - Bossa/Jazz no problemo! (Maybe I need a couple margaritas and lots of practice first?)

In the 6th measure I see some people play the melody note as Bb and some with the B natural. I think you played it both ways too. I remember I learned it first as B natural then over the years I started playing Bb for some reason, but now it sounds much better to me as B natural - has more bite to it

Thanks, great video again. Question about Salsa version: would you say exactly how you count the sixteenth bar turn around for tum bao in left hand bass line? Do you start again on the 1 each time you go back to the top of the form?

Hi Charles.. most of the time the bass line play 2.5. 4. 2.5. 4. except of the first bass note that falls on the one. But sometimes I improvise and I do whatever I want 🌷
