It also includes the non financial support of government agencies on any LGBT+ projects, so it is harder for any producer to consider making any. This Episode had me remembering some gay classics and other new ones in some key moments. 🤗 From 20:00 the way QIN XIAO whispers on QI LU's ear, with their faces so close to each other, was like KYUNG-SOO used to do with TAE-SUB in the Korean TV Drama "Life Is Beautiful" (2010) ... and the reference to winter, and to be "freezing to death" in a metaphorical way for "being without love" was beautifully used here by QIN XIAO as well. QIN XIAO struggle in this Episode followed the same one from YANG in the Thai BL "Love in Translation" (2023) leading to the same question with synonym idioms: 我们 在一吧 - Wǒmen Zài yī ba = "Let's be together." Here at 20:20 with 我们 一起吧 - Wǒmen Yīqǐ ba = "Let's be together." 🤗 😍 To accomplish this QI LU did a lot of things, from tolerating QIN XIAO's indifference, to his fierce jealousy, just willing to be close to him regardless of their status. The more QIN XIAO pushed him away, and closer and caring QI LU turned out to be. That brave attitude and feeling of not giving up, but doing whatever it takes for the loved one had me remembering the essence of the Chinese short film "Love Ever After" (2023): 你不来找我 - Nǐ bù lái zhǎo Wǒ (You don’t come looking for me) 只能我来找你了 - Zhǐ néng Wǒ lái zhǎo Nǐ le (I can only come looking for you) 兜兜转转 - Dōu dou Zhuǎn zhuǎn (Going round and round) 终会相见 - Zhōng huì Xiāng Jiàn (We will eventually meet) 离别扣相思 - Líbié kòu Xiāng Sī (Farewell is bond to Lovesick) 恍然只若初见 - Huǎngrán Zhǐ Ruò Chū Jiàn (Suddenly it is, as we meet for the first time) Too bad this scene here at 27:26 is overloaded with the fireworks, and the noisy soundtrack, making it altogether a too bright contrast to QIN XIAO deep emotions and tears, leading to that life changing choice moment. What is to be a really emotionally moving scene, resulting in a love proposal, and a first kiss, goes lost in the extreme lights, and the fireworks, blinding us as viewers. Cinematographically speaking this scene was a visual disaster. BUT never mind. More important is the huge step QIN XIAO was able to accomplish after having tried to keep calm and in control in a rational way of their future lives. From this scene altogether I am really glad seeing that QI LU's oil portray of QIN XIAO serves as the very last strike tearing down QIN XIAO's protective walls. The painting itself shows so much love in the many details ... with the blue sky as background, and the giraffe like columns and frames around QIN XIAO, with a golden touch ... resembling some Byzantine Icons. The portray itself is a love confession that transcends what is not possible to express in words ... really magical. In this Episode we finally find out why LIU MING YANG is struggling with his relationship with TAN YIN. Our blond sweet boy does not resemble LIU MING YANG ex-boyfriend, but his 22:06 弟弟 - Dìdì = younger brother YANG YANG ...! 😲😵‍💫 And YANG YANG died 4 years ago ... in a way that is still making LIU MING YANG feel responsible for it, while trying to live his own life as well. The way he is still mourning his 弟弟 - Dìdì, and the way he has been looking after TAN YIN is mess up by the two clashing emotions. WE see very clear at 27:42 that one side of him wants to be ONLY the older brother for TAN YIN; and the other side is longing to love TAN YIN openly, regardless of his similarities with his lost younger brother. This is an issue that will continue in the next Episode 8 as we see in the teaser, with LIU MING YANG's mother coming over, and finding TAN YIN in his house. Let's hope LIU MING YANG uses that opportunity to tell TAN YIN the entire truth, so that he can understand better LIU MING YANG conflicting feelings. Cheers...!

@@kaimu_bl That scene shows how hard it was for QIN XIAO not to be jealous seeing QI LU being so friendly and close with WEI JIAYU now that he was "stepping back". If we add to this moment that QI LU was really friendly to WEI JIAYU from the very beginning, and even gave him a pair of American sneakers as "apology and let's be friends present" in Episode 3, a moment that triggered QIN XIAO jealousy already back then seeing WEI JIAYU all cheerful and giggling back to QI LU, like a puppy wagging its tail to his new master, we can see that the furious emotions released in this moment by QIN XIAO over QI LU have been accumulating since that moment in EP 3. This scene here shows also a strong uncertainty and insecurity of QIN XIAO. Believing that QI LU could have given up on him already after his rejection in Episode 6, and moved into "seducing" WEI JIAYU now is something he could not stand still, and that inner anger results in this actions, almost hurting QI LU in a physical way. Luckily his mind was stronger than his heart, and he was able to control not punching QI LU right here. There is also another kind of concern in this scene that QIN XIAO makes also clear when he says: 你非得让所有人都知道你那点破事儿 Nǐ fēiděi ràng suǒyǒu rén dōu zhīdào nǐ nà diǎnpò shì er "Do you have to let everyone know about "broken" affairs?" The English translation of this question is more direct than the original words in Mandarin, something that changes the tactful - maybe? - ways QIN XIAO speaks. We can interpreted this one in two different ways: - QIN XIAO could be really concern about QI LU having a gay coming out, and facing any sorts of discriminations and disadvantages, not only for him, but involving himself ... because of his longing of being together with him. - It could be another way to try to find out what is QI LU really thinking at this point, by forcing him to answer. We know that for QIN XIAO a guy having feelings for another guy is normal, and a personal choice issue; but he also knows what it could have a discriminatory impact when living as a gay guy out in the open thru TAN YIN's experience, and thru the gay film "East Palace, West Palace" (1996) that he watched with QI LU back in Episode 5. We must understand that a public coming out in China at such a young age, before joining a university and being able to support yourself financially is a real serious matter. I believe this Series wants to address many social critical issues around the Chinese LGBT+ community, so this time we don't get a "pink milk bubble" story. We have to face all the characters, with their worries, and their problems, as they come. Cheers…!

What is the age gap between liu and Tan? Also, while I appreciate the fact he wants to sort himself out before moving forward with Tan romantically, he could have decided that before he kissed him. All that did was present Tan with false hope only for it to be snatched away the next moment. Liu ptting his feelings and hangups out there is a nice gesture, commendable even.... had it been brought to light BEFORE the kiss. After though is equivalent to an emotional smack to the face. Poor baby Tan. I want to hug him. 😭 that jacket clutching scene was too real.

Qi Lu knows why Qin Xiao is scared of have that kind of behaviours, so he didnt want to make thing become big trouble also :(

I really like that this BL actually deals with internalized homophobia, confusion about one's sexuality, prejudice from family (Tan Yin is not accepted by his parents) etc. I have never seen a BL that discusses these topics! Also, I loved that Lao Lu admits that he is too confused and thus he shouldn't enter in a relationship with such a big age gap. It was painful for Tan Yin but I really like that the potential problems of such an age gap were at least superficially acknowledged (when they usually aren't in any other BL). Of course, Lao Liu only did that after being a jerk and giving false hope to Tan Yin >:(

There is no "internalized homophobia" or "confusion about one's sexuality" in this Series. ALL 4 main leads know to be gay, and non of them is avoiding their sexuality. The prejudice from TAN YIN family comes from his lack of hearing issue, which was more a lack of medical care to help him, and not because he was gay. But then you haven't watch many BL Series yet. The best story covering all those topics you mention would be the Thai BL Series trilogy for KORN & KNOCK, from "Bad Romance" (2016), over "Together With Me" (2017), until "The Next Chapter" (2018), for example. And there are others like "My Dear Loser: Age of 17" with IN claiming not to be gay, but being helplessly in love with SUN the entire Series long... a struggle that he carried on into "OUR SKY - IN SUN" (2018). From China there was "I like you, Do you know that?" (2016) ... with TIAN JI not knowing if he was in love with his best friend YOU ZHU, or the girl colleague YI... and talking openly with YOU ZHU about his uncertain feelings for him. That one was really hard because YOU ZHU told TIAN JI from the beginning that he liked him; and they even lived together in the same apartment for years. Cheers...!

@JustThai_BoysLove Thank you so much for the recommendations! Just a correction: Tan Yin does say to Lao Lu that he was expelled from home for liking boys. Also, when Qi Lu and Qin Xiao fight, Qin Xiao says something along the lines of "I want to have a normal family with a wife and kids". To me this part was pretty explicitly internalized homophobia! And yes you are right, I haven't watched many live action BLs yet so I don't know! My main comparison are mangas and manwha

@@Marina-fy8bc You're welcome. I need to watch the first Episodes again to confirm that family issue with TAN YIN. When QIN XIAO tells QI LU that he wanted a simple family life with a wife and a kid that is not "explicitly internalized homophobia", that is how he pictured his life before falling in love with him. QI LU is the first guy he likes in a romantic way, and that he realizes to like that way, so that can not be consider an "explicitly internalized homophobia" in any way. Otherwise he would have hit him, or done something brutal to QI LU ... just like JU HA did to DO YUN in "Jazz For Two" not only fighting his own love feelings for him, but completely rejecting even the idea to seeing and accepting himself as gay. The talk QIN XIAO has with TAN YIN later on in that same Episode about why he was avoiding QI LU's feelings shows more the idea of "not being worthy". Cheers...!

@@Marina-fy8bc PS: I found the scene in Episode 4 where TAN YIN tells LIU MING YANG how he run away from home, because his parents found out on a chat on his phone that he liked boys, and locked him in a "conversion's therapy camp". I watched the 4 first Episodes in August during the pre-release and I thought this Series was never going to be release, so I have forgotten such an important scene.
