If thats how clean it sounds with two audio tapes on top of each other then words cant describe the cleanliness that line must've had.

@zpull77 gotcha. i've heard that statement on judges tapes before and didn't understand what they meant. i figured it had something to do with spacing of the line, but wasn't sure. thank you for taking the time to clarify. as a crown fan, this has to be one of my favorite brass shows and front ensemble shows.

@kmtobia14 жыл бұрын
@mholub I think part of it may have to do with the fact 2 audios are playing on top of each other. The original audio from the dvd and then I threw the judge tape on top of it using Windows Movie Maker (shitty program)...Not saying it was perfect...but you can definitely tell its not lined up in some spots if you listen close. Its like an echo in some places. Next tape I'm just gonna use the judges tapes for the audio.

So let's do our talking on the scoresheet guys... All they do is take a whole line of different judges and have them give a score between one and 20 (or 30) based on different aspects of the performance (visual,music,effect,ensemble) . When they add up all the scores, it happens to equal something within a few points of 100! If a corps is gonna win every show, it means the judges know what they are talking about, cuz one judge can't decide the competition
@homfencing11 жыл бұрын
JJ won tenors in 89 while with Dutch Boy, He later marched Phantom Regiment 1990, and aged out with Blue Devils in 1991.

@Aziankrazy It's amazing how many people don't realize that a good portion of not only DCI but similar events is the fact that musical values are taken into large affect; for those who've never been on the field it's hard for them to understand how involved routines are and how a solid musical production is not the easiest in those circumstances. Furthermore, you're not looking at the score, you don't know just how complicated the music is - not something you can fully tell just listening.
@TarbizzleJennhizzle14 жыл бұрын
oh I forgot to mention, the drumline feature near the end was amazing though.
@lij201513 жыл бұрын
@RockstarDaniel but you can't judge them on the same basis. They're too separate units, which together form the drumline. The percussion judge should be Good at both, but it's unfair to have one judge for a 18 person pit and a 15 person line...

i think J.J. Pipetone used to play quads for Drummer Boy. I could be wrong though. I remember seeing him in a yamaha catalog once in the early 90's before the SFZ snare existed. And before someone says "SFZs were out since 89, Blue Devils used them" The answer is "Uh no, the snares blue devils used in 89 were yamaha "prototypes" but we all knew they were Premier free floating snares with a yamaha sticker :) They went back to the yamaha corps custom in 90

well obviously anyone can find flaws in this if they have the opportunity to watch it as many times as you'd like to scrutinize each individual bar if you so desire. I assume its totally different when youre out on the field when corps members flying all around you while you do your best to make commentary and keep up with what the line is playing in one showing.

@ThreeFourthsFull I do agree, that BD's shows aren't as entertaining as maybe some of the corps, maybe they develop the show around the judges.But the judges give the scores, not you. An example would be this years show, the show they played is totally different when you are at eye level with all those mirrors, and as a spectator in the bleachers you won't understand it. Anyways, you must admit with what they do play, the play it super clean.

@TGfoever I disagree. I hate when people forget that drum corps did exist before the 2000s. BD was way better and more respectable back then. Crown deserved the drum title at the very least in 09.

you know, i really don't mean to like, say anything negative and get yelled at by everyone, but the stuff they are playing really isn't EXTREMELY difficult. i mean its hard, obviously. But it isn't the hardest thing they've played at all. I feel this show was mostly visuals for them. but jeez it sounds like the judge loved them! LOL. BUT, I do enjoy watching this it's very entertaining :)
