If you ask me, it is the way she feels vulnerable yet still so powerful and fluid. The fluid ness of the music with the rigid parts makes it feel dazzling but so based. The different emotions make this series the best. I will never forgive Netflix if they cancel season two

I dont know when this started production but I can help but feel like Arcane's animation style opened a new door and new animation studios are following suit, and I couldn't be happier. Blue Eye Samurai, however, is a proper adult animated series, while Arcane did what it could with its constraints. Both are incredible works and seminal animated creations of our time.

Zur Zeit werden einfach so gute Serien nicht verlängert und der Müll der geht natürlich weiter. My friend told me to watch the "Blue Eye Samurai". I dive into it and finished for one day. That's brilliant! How the series mixing different artwork, how the soundtrack and voice lines sounds (every time I catching goosebumps on my spine), fight and erotic scenes -- honest, brutal, with a lot of empressions. And there's no black or white colors only. A lot of shades of gray. Always giving me a lot of things to think about. I keep my fingers crossed to wait for season 2. Good luck team! This show has been a welcome surprise for me. Netflix shows usually tend to suck but at documentaries and animations, they're really going solid At first I was a bit balked by the casual looking ''strong female lead'' trope, but no, this show has a perfect setting, a perfect protagonist and the perfect tone for what it wants to tell. There are different-sized shamisen so my guess it's just one of the larger ones (Futo-zao); at the same time, I see no reason why they couldn't have played with the tones digitally after recording. As an American show, it has the creative liberty to not be so historically accurate and pure ☺

Hi, I had the pleasure of providing the shamisen on Amie Doherty's amazing score, and @lobomella128 below was correct in their comment - I play the futozao shamisen, and the style I most commonly play on it is called Tsugaru shamisen, Tsugaru being the region of Aomori Prefecture from which the style originates. Shamisen makes use of a few different tunings (depends on the style being played), but two of the most common tunings used in Tsugaru shamisen are called "hon-choushi" and "ni-agari". Tsugaru shamisen as a style didn't emerge until the late 19th century, but other styles of shamisen date back to as early as the turn of the 17th Century. There is no fixed key for shamisen, and players typically tune to the key of whatever piece they are playing, but the intervallic relationships between the strings stay the same in the above-mentioned tunings no matter the key. That said, the most common keys for shamisen to tune to tend to be C or D, and in those cases the tunings would be as follows: Hon-choushi: C-F-C; D-G-D (lowest note, ^fourth, ^octave of lowest note) Ni-agari: C-G-C; D-A-D (lowest note, ^fifth, ^octave of lowest note)
