Back in the 1990s, before automated recycling services was offered, Pacific Waste/Allied Waste (formerly known as Laidlaw Waste Systems) used their blue carts for trash/refuse. Shorty after the turn of the millennia, Pacific Waste implemented the new three stream automated collection system.
In order to reeducate their customers on their new colors for receptacles, Pacific Waste began ordering their new blue carts with a recycling sign on them. All residents were mailed a brochure of what each colored cart represented to reduce confusion as well. (2001/2002). The older Pacific Waste/Laidlaw carts were cleaned and reissued to the customers throughout the city.
This isn’t the first HOA I’ve seen that’s done this. Every resident is given one 96 gallon blue Pacific Waste or Laidlaw Toter which is used for Trash. A 64 gallon recycling cart. These have recycling hot stamps and some have recycling stickers on the lid. I guess they want to keep everything in one color.
I can watch this truck collect this route all day. Gave me big nostalgic feelings of being a child again. Before this world got turned upside down.
