I'm right there with you, Wayne! My top choice is also Quenneville, providing of course he's been reinstated by the NHL to coach again... Otherwise, my next choice would be Gerard Gallant, followed by Craig Berube... I also wouldn't object to Lindy Ruff returning as head coach, but I would much rather see Lindy become President of Hockey Operations if Pegula would be open to the idea?

Agreed! Quenneville is the dream scenario. I hope I’m wrong but I have a gut feeling they are going to hire Berube. Solid coach but I don’t think he’s close to an elite one. If it wasn’t for Jordan Binnington turning into a prime Patrick Roy that playoff run, they wouldn’t have won the cup. Hoping for the best though! Go Sabres!

Adams always put a lot of emphasis on a character and he stated it many times - in and out of the rink. Queenville is a great coach for sure, but unfortunately A) I don't think the league will let him reinstate his coaching certification anytime soon B) Like Babcock, his reputation gone downhill since he got involved in " Kyle Beach " cover up - I don't think that is something Adams wants to bring into the locker room - despite if the accusations were right or wrong, he is tainted - period. Berube all the way.

I watched a lot of games this season. My first question is why are they so bad at home? 21-19-1 at home barely above .500, a slight improvement over previous season. 18-18-5 away. 43 points at home 41 away. Bad/ lazy passing at times, dumb turnovers. Tomers made me crazy at times this season. Some games they looked so complacent, especially the first half of season. The boys need discipline and accountability. I want a coach that will give them exactly that. No friendship, no excuses that Donny seemed to give them. BTW, Id be okay with Lindy. Hes one of types of personality they need.

Adams already says he has someone in mind...so to me, that says that he already has him ready. I kinda expect tomorrow to have a few HC jobs gone. After this first round will show even more fired. I think the biggest thing for getting a coach is not to sign them for more than 2 years. If we can do one year that would be good and extend if the season dictates, but I don't think a coach will come on a one year contract.

Before we worry about which coach the Sabres will hire has anyone given any thought about the Sabres moving? The NHL has never been shy about teams moving to another city. The Sabres have been in self destruct mode for some time now. Attendance has been on a steady decline. The NHL is looking to put teams in other cities. It’s a perfect storm for the Sabres to pack it up and move out.

Not for nothin", but for those who are proponents of the 3-2-1 scoring system (3 pts.-RW, 2 pts.-OT/SO Win, 1 pt.-OT/SO Loss) the 2nd wild card spot for this season takes on a whole new look. If my calculations are correct, which team would have taken the 2nd wild card? The Caps? Pens? Red Wings? Penguins? Devils? Sabres! Yes, the Sabres with 109 points. How so, you might ask, as the Devils also would have had 109 points. And, the Devils would have won a wild card tiebreaker over Buffalo by way of having 1 more ROW than Buffalo, as both teams were tied had 33 RWs. But, that wouldn't have mattered because the Devils wouldn't have needed the 2nd wildcard spot since they actually would have taken the Metro Division's 3rd seed, easily beating out the Islanders who would have only had 103 points. In fact, the only team fighting for a playoff spot the Islanders would have exceeded was the Flyers, who would have finished the season with 102. Also relegated to non-playoff status under a 3-2-1 point system would have been the Caps with 107, followed by the Red Wings and Penguins, both with 106. So, under the current format where the NHL hands out loser points like candy at Halloween and winning in regulation is an after-thought the Islanders grab the Metro's 3rd seed with only 28 RWs for 56 points out of the 92 they finished with, all because they played in 26 OT games, of which 6 went to a SO. Meaning their point total is comprised of the following, 28 RWs, 9 OTWs, 11 OTLs, 1 SOW and 5 SOLs. Yep, they grabbed a whopping 36!!!! additional points by going to 26 OT games and losing 16 of those. What a frikkin' joke. They go to the playoffs by winning, outright, only 34% of their games. Meanwhile, Tampa makes the playoffs, and deservedly so, with 36 RWs (still less than 50% of games played) while the two teams in the East with the next most RWs (more than the Isles, Caps, Red Wings, Pens, and Flyers) the Devils and the Sabres, finish out of the playoffs with fewer points than all those other teams. As I said before, what a frikkin' joke. ** Editorial Note: As I write this, I recognize that the Isles and the Pens still have 1 game left in the season (tonight) in which they play each other. The result won't change anything with respect to who's making the playoffs this year and who's not. However, I hope the Pens win in regulation, as that would serve to enhance the ridiculousness of the present scoring system and further highlight how a 3-2-1 system is much more equitable...and would be another nail in the coffin of preposterousness that the Islander's lay in as a result of making the playoffs with a point total that is just another NHL farce. Sorry for being so long winded, but...

If the Sabres hire Lindy Ruff, I'll think this ownership only cares about money and fans in the seats. Ruff has failed everywhere he's went after being fired by the Sabres and most notably with a young New jersey Devils squad so for me this would be a massive short term mistake. For me I'd want Gallant, Berube or Quenville but i don't think Quenville is reinstated is he?

give credit to detroit, they lost out on the playoffs because of that losing streak they had.. but they showed some grit when it mattered, especially from young guys like raymond, something buffalo players of the same role/age did not. what buffalo lacked this year again, is that they do not understand the importance of winning, without it being pretty. banking points is all that matters. the next coach has to dial back the loosey goosey dippsy doodle junior playing style of this team. play heavy. bank points. blueline toedrag in a tie game is not consistency.

FFirst of all how come Adans didnt FIRE Matt Ellis and Marty Wilford? PP was terrible and team was terrible defensively for the most of the season! Thank God , Adams said he wants a coach with EXPERIENCE. Adams fired Granato now to beat the Flyers to Berube . Yes , last week the Flyers said they are keeping Torts as their coach but that just good media. Torts soon will say hes had enough of coaching and the Flyers will move him upstairs to management and then Briere and Keith Jones will hire their buddy and ex teamate Craig Berube . Adams though will beat them to it ! Berube knows how to deal with todays NHL players , he knows when to push them and when to back off. Gallant and Ruff not so much. Id love Quennville in Buffalo but I dont think the NHL will let Quennville back into the NHL . Hire Berube and go get Mckee And Peca as assistant coaches . IMO Uncle Fester stays in Detroit . Yzerman will bring him back to start next season. Not a chance , Brindarmour leaves Carolina . We get a dinosaur coach, the "new age" players will take years to adjust. So they'll be gone, including Dahlin within 2 years. Like all the others that left and are doing well on other teams, so will our core, as the next has been stone age coach shows up, destroys the plan, and send our Sabres to warmer climes... I'm in my 70's. I don't have the time. I loved my Sabres... Life goes on... Go Bills... Go Sabres... Go Amerks...
