Never can tell if these birds actually WANT to eat the things that they're eating. It looks like they're constantly questioning their own sanity.

Wonder if they ever swallow something too big that they end up choking on? They seem willing to give anything a go, that "muskrat" is the biggest animal I've seen one of these Herons try to eat ever since I've gone down this "rabbit hole" of Heron videos.

He doesn't hit the neck, they shake the body repeatedly which will break the neck eventually. A couple of heron vids you'll notice it.

Distantly. Very distantly, but closer than that muskrat.
@marcokuipers30964 жыл бұрын
They called both animals thats wy.
@christopherscottb4 жыл бұрын
Actually, they're not really related. Although birds evolved from reptiles, they belong to the group called Archosauria, which includes dinosaurs, crocodilians, pterosaurs (flying reptiles like pteranodon), and, of course, birds. Snakes belong to Lepidosauria, which includes lizards, snakes, tuataras, and lots of little-known extinct reptiles. Birds, therefore, are actually no more closely related to snakes than they are to iguanas or chameleons. Of the modern reptiles, crocodilians are their nearest relatives. By the same token, they're more closely related to brontosaurus or triceratops than they are to snakes. Seems counter-intuitive, I know, but that's the size of it, phylogenetically speaking.
