I normally dont comment on KZbin videos, but I wanted to let you know ive been looking to learn this song for a long time. Im trying to improve my acoustic playing and nothing beats playing some Trio to do it! Just started last night, and im impressed how you broke it down. Thanks for posting this!

+Michael Schiano Thanks for watching I hope if helps...I would probably change the rhythm a tiny bit and go D DUDU instead...I don't know why I did it the other way...this was one of my first videos and they will (hopefully) get better!

Surprised so little views, keep it up buddy. Would be helpful to have the chord shapes up while you play through the song

Thanks, the views will come :)...also thanks for the feedback, I do all of them a bit different and I usually try to at least have the chord names up on the play along parts.

Awesome tutorial! I wish this was here when I learned it. Just some things: i think the strumming pattern sounds more like DDUDU, also the second and third chord sound a little fuller with this, but that's just extra, it still sounds good the way you played it. E|--x and E|--x B|--x B|--x G|--9 G--9 D|--6 D--7 A|--7 A--7 E|--x E--x
@PatrickTeachestheWorld8 жыл бұрын
+Jackson Detrick hi thanks for the comment. Yeah normally when I play that song I play D DUDU but for some reason in the video I leave out the one strum lol...that was one of my first videos and I think my brain wasn't working all the way :) I'm still working on it!
@wildcard7494 жыл бұрын
thank god im not crazy, i thought it was d dudu as well

I would love to know what that 4th fret -7th fret chord stretch is and how it works....please explain
@PatrickTeachestheWorld6 жыл бұрын
Hi Anthony, there are a couple of ways to think of it, but I usually would think of it as "the 1st inversion of the one chord". In this key (the key of E) the E is the called the "one" chord. That little shape is like an E chord with the 3rd (G#) in the bass. Even though it doesn't have the 5th in the chord (the B note) we can still think of it as an E chord (the 5th is implied) :) So basically it's a cool move that let's you smoothly move from the E chord and the 4 chord (the A chord). You could even think of it as just a cool way to play an E chord. Hope some of that helps...it's hard to explain some of that stuff through text, especially not knowing what theory you are familiar with.

Cool I'll check them out and put them on the list.

+Cole Alward I put them on the list, but maybe I would do them more like the originals. I need to try and do more songs that people might try to look for, and not sure if anyone would search for the covered ones. I remember I got to see Dashboard at my friends college before years ago, it was pretty cool.

You gotta let the low E string ring on the E chords
@PatrickTeachestheWorld8 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for the feedback, I can't re-watch this video right now but I know a couple of time my action was a bit too low and I had to go extra light on my low E for these tutorials (maybe that's what I was doing...not sure). I know it's stupid lol but sometimes I have reasons why I'd just keep it that low.
