I used to do something like this as an isolated teen with bipolar disorder. I'd drum on skulls of animals I found in the woods near our house. I began adding other percussive "instruments" like tools from my father's garage, & then started entering neighbor's houses in search of more interesting items. I soon amassed a respectable collection of cat litter boxes, lampshades, oven racks, & flower vases, which were unfortunately returned to their owners when I was arrested. I’m being released soon.

@bzert281 Most of what Blue Man Group uses aren't technically instruments until they turn them into one. They like to use PVC pipes a lot. I can't remember what they are using for this song. But I do remember reading that it takes a lot of practice to get the proper speeds for the right notes with the flexible sticks I guess we could call them, and I'm pretty sure that they have microphones on them.

Any instrument they used was wired in some form. Those wands were combo'ed for light and sound, with the length determining the sound. That big one was like 25" long!
